I recently tried to move to a new Xperia 10 III after my old was pretty broken. I can still access it but it’s breaking more each day.
I have to say it was not pleasant. Built-in backup/restore failed so I had to delete parts of the backup file manuelly to get it to proceed. But that is mostly sorted out now.
What does not work at all is Android application data. I thought it was just a matter of copying over the android_storage folder? But none of my Android apps seem to get any old user data. Is this located elsewhere now? Anything else need to be done?
Would be grateful if someone can help me out as it would be a pain in the ass to reconfigure all apps and what pains the most is losing my history in Shattered Pixel Dungeon, had over 250 games played and almost all achievements ;(
The more specific application data is in either /home/.android/data or /home/.appsupport/instance//data depending on your SailfishOS version. If you copy that and the android_storage to a new device, then you should have all your data and apps intact. The system image is read-only, so these are the only places where Android is allowed to write, except for SD cards.
Some time ago I changed UID/GID of system files and it worked some time. But then SFOS removed my changes over night and did set it to original state automatically. My changes were gone.
Thank you! I thought all files where in /home/defaultuser. I managed to copy the files over and chown them to whatever my new phone was using. All apps are working now! Yay!
There was the App MyBackup in the times, that also worked quite well, but somehow the development ended at some point, i do not understand it until the developper switched to Android and therefore didn’t need it anymore:
