Android app "ANWB Onderweg & Wegenwacht" will not open

DESCRIPTION:

Starting ANWB Onderweg & Wegenwacht Android app gets stuck on splash screen, and then exits after a minute or so

PRECONDITIONS:

Android Support installed and running

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Download the app, e.g. at https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/anwb/anwb-onderweg-wegenwacht/anwb-onderweg-wegenwacht-5-8-1-release/anwb-onderweg-wegenwacht-5-8-1-android-apk-download/
  2. Install the app
  3. Try to start it

EXPECTED RESULT:

The app starts

ACTUAL RESULT:

The splash screen is shown for a while, and then exits. The app itself never opens.

It neither works on 4.5. When monitoring logcat when starting the app this rolls by:

Seems the apps simply depends on google-schijt to run. So unless you install google-schijt (or perhaps MicroG) it probably can’t work. You can try complaining at their email address, listed on the store page.

Well that’s a shame. I sent them a message in the faint hope they are able to do something about this.

I tested on 10 III running Sauna and XA2 and 10 II running Struven ketju.

Searching (I tested Groningen) works but routing from Tampere 13 km from Rajaportin sauna doesn’t.

I have MicroG with the settings needed by Lidl Plus.

Edit: freshly updated 10 II Sauna: OK
