Just wanted to share my finds regarding the matter, since I (1) use the Amazfit GTR3 Pro for hiking and at the same time (2) I don’t want to even install the Zepp app to any of my devices.
As already known, if the watch is not connected to the Zepp app for a long time, it ends up with outdated agps information, and it struggles to get a GPS signal. My Amazfit, after 10+ months without updates, would not get any signal fix at all, even after multiple attempts (20+) in open space.
Solution:
Find an open space, and remove the watch from your wrist.
Start any exercise that requires GPS, and hold the device so that both sides, face and back, are free in open air.
Wait for approximately a minute or two, and it will get a signal. Quit the exercise, and restart it (do both steps above again).
Now quit the exercise, wear the device to your wrist, and start the exercise you wish.
Using this method, my GTR3 Pro was revived, and the actual result was more accurate than I expected. Actually, the test exercise was performed in a city with 3-4 storey buildings, and it worked flawlessly.
Please note that connecting to Amazfit devices as well as downloading agps data for them with huami-token (which seems to be used in amazfish, afaik) currently isn`t possible.
Maybe piggz could drop some info here?
So it seems. I hadn’t actually noticed as uploading old a-gps data seems to be enough to get rid of the nag screen. I did wonder why it took so long to get a fix last week when I went jogging…
It seems the new token retrieving protocol as already been reverse engineered. Hopefully we get a new implementation soonish.
