Today I learned about Asteroid OS for google wear smartwatches (there’s a new app Starship on openrepos, that’s how) and to my surprise it uses mce, lipstick, qt5-qpa-hwcomposer-plugin (as does Sailfish).

They recently (2020) added Always-on Display support, take a look at this nice explanation https://github.com/AsteroidOS/asteroid/issues/58#issuecomment-629162704

It’s based on a HWC feature on the droid side named HWC_POWER_MODE_DOZE_SUSPEND so it could work on Sony (or on ports)

Any plans to pick this up for SailfishOS too?

There’s “mcetool --set-never-blank=enabled” if you need to disable screen blanking, works at least in my Jolla C.
