ADDITIONAL (INFORMATION) QUESTION:

Will there be any fix, or do I have to reinstall sailfish from scratch?
Thanks.

Ok, after I had it running for the hole day, while I was at work, interrupted by some reboot tries (always infinite spinning wheel), now, finally at home, I tried it some more times.

Yet, after I posted the bug report, suddenly a sound from my phone!
Another background and the request to retype my sec-code.

Finally after one working day. The update is complete! It works!
Amazing, didn’t expect that.

So, bug is solved. For all who experience the same issue, be patient.

Glad to hear that it now works but I find that the spinning wheel problem can recur especially when the phone has powered off from battery drain. (It would be interesting to hear if others still experience this problem from time to time and especially after the battery runs out).

I have found that the following can get out of the spinning wheel situation after start up. This may be worth a try if it happens again.

If the wheel spins for more than a minute:

Press and hold the power button. “Goodbye” appears and the phone shuts down.
Wait until the red light goes out.
Hold down volume up
Press and hold the power button (Keeping volume up depressed)
Release the power button when the start up routine begins (Bootloader warning and Sony splash screen etc.)
Keep the volume up button depressed until the enter passcode screen appears.
This time, on entering your passcode it should move on past the initial passcode screen after a short while.
