I do miss DeltaChat in this list. Also, there isnāt yet a SFOS app for it but this would be certainly nice. The critical mass to convince your friends & family is usually required to make them switch over to more privacy respecting messaging apps is a hard thing to achieve but weāre getting there.

How many EU countries you visited where MMS is free on pretty much every prepaid/contract?
SMS in many cases are limited as well, and the reason Iām mentioning MMS is because at this day and age we share a lot of multimedia.
Iām talking strictly about sms/mms privacy, and then cost / availability.
I didnāt watch the video and I do not care to watch these types of videos.
Iām using the messaging apps I have to use to stay connected with the people I care about. Iām not planning to move my whole social circle to another app every time a new app is hot on the privacy sector.
Sms is not another app, it is pretty much beating all these apps on availability, and the only privacy concerns are when police are asking and a judge agrees, you live in north korea? In EU not really a problem vs murrican companies siphoning your data willy nilly

Itās fine, you stay with SMS.
Other people like their messages encrypted and not having everyone handling / intercepting it potentially read it.
Btw, sensing SMS abroad costs a lot money. At least with all contracts I am aware of.
SMS/MMS for me is free/unlimited with a daily capped rate when roaming. Vodafone Australia

Court can get access to your sms among other things (any Google related information) in most EU countries for simple reasons like a divorce.
Again, Iām not losing sleep over stuff like that, but if you think that privacy on that (low) level is required only in North Korea, youād be surprised.
There are no MMS in Vodafone for 3+ years now in Germany and the rest are shutting it down after a couple of weeks.
Yes Iāve been hearing itās shutting down around the world. Still a thing here and I havenāt heard talk of that changing.
I wonder whether the cSMS app from the Jolla Store still works, but it was only available as a arm7 build.
If there is enough demand, I could try to make it work on aarch64. However, given that I donāt have access to the source code or build system, Iām not sure it would be worth the effort for the three people who would use it. 
Edit: I found my Jolla 1, it runs but the store does not open any more so donāt know if itās the newest version.

I think video calls require paid Olvid subscription, which I donāt have and thus I havenāt tested if they work on SFOS.
There is Sailtrix and Hydrogen if I remember correctly.

I have been using Simplex chat with my family (on android) and I was hoping to continue using it with AAS on the new Jolla phone. I can receive notifications on the notification area but if the app is not open thereĀ“s no notification sound. Also on calls I cannot hear anything at J2 end or only something distorted, the other end can hear me well. Anyone else using Simplex on SailfishOS and have it working?
Should probably update the list of private chats that wonāt be sharing data to EU governments/chatcontrol after the current events of non-privacy EU crazy chatcontrol/vpn/age verification laws.
More of a workaround than a solution, but I have been bridging all of my chat services to matrix so everything is in one interface. Works very well.
