Observe the 500 error, which doesn’t happen in Firefox for Android (or any other browser I use outside the phone)
EXPECTED RESULT:
Do the same in a private tab and you’ll see how it should behave (see notes below). NB: this may or may not work first time - what you really expect is the journey planner working as it would on any public transport website.
ACTUAL RESULT:
As above, 500 error.
MODIFICATIONS:
None… just the normal browser.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Because this works in a private tab (sometimes), I tried to erase all data from the browser, which is a pain as it resets the cookies in every site. Once I had done this, nationalrail worked for a couple of days, and then reverted to the 500 error state.
I understand that this could easily be an issue with the site, but given the very small footprint of Sailfish Browser, it will never get fixed.
If anybody knows of a way to delete data/cookies for a specific site only through the command line, I’d welcome that information
No, this isn’t a solution. And I believe I covered this in the additional notes. I do acknowledge that you’re half joking/half being serious, but it doesn’t help Sailfish Browser’s usability.
FWIW, I have contacted National Rail and multiple other websites, in addition to companies that don’t offer an “app” in the Sailfish ecosystem, and I always got the same result: nothing. Let’s get a big enough client base first.
The site is accessible using my PC and searching for stations in Arrivals or Departures does work.
When typing in your station, the drop down list fills with potential stations. Sailfish Browser crashes on the first letter we input. I would suggest the problem is fully with the inability of the browser to display the drop menu and populate correctly.
In private mode, it’s the same problem, the 500 error is given.
There is a nationrail app in Openrepos but I think its abandoned and note that it is just a timetable, you can’t book tickets.
Not on my device it isn’t but I’m not worried, I no longer live in the UK anyway. The browser doesn’t crash but it will not find known stations when searching.
