[4.5.0.25][Xperia 10 III] No mobile data connection (Unexpected data call status 55)

REPRODUCIBILITY: Always/ Permanent
OS VERSION: 4.5.0.25
HARDWARE: Xperia 10 III
UI LANGUAGE: German
REGRESSION: Yes, New

DESCRIPTION:

I do not get anymore mobile connection (4G) on my phone. A week ago I got a new sim card by my provider, which shall enable 5G. This worked now for a week, however since two days, my provider “finished activating 5g” (that is what they told me on the phone).
Now, I can no more connect to 2G/3G/4G. I have VoLTE not enabled.

What I have tried:

  1. I checked the APN settings
  2. Restarted ofono (many times)
  3. I checked several topics in this forum, but non seems to be similar to mine. In the journalctrl for ofono, I see some strange errors:
    Facility lock query error: INVALID_ARGUMENTS
Requested file structure differs from SIM: 6fb7
    […]
    Unexpected data call status 55

I have noticed, that when I restart ofono, the net strength symbol shows up, showing maximum possible value, then for 0.5s it shows “4G” right next to that. Then “4G” disappears and the strength symbol shows no access (0/5). It then takes a while (about 5s), then only the net strength symbol returns to full strength, however “4G” is no more showing up.

PRECONDITIONS:

Try to switch on mobile data

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

There are not steps to reproduce. The issue happens permanently.

EXPECTED RESULT:

Mobile data connection works

ACTUAL RESULT:

The phone does only shows the strength of the cellular network, but it does not show “2G/3G/4G” beside that

MODIFICATIONS:

No additional patches or custom changes

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I have attached:

  1. Ofono logs
  2. journalctrl -u ofono
    here: https://www.filemail.com/d/ujblcajdavjkvdc

One thing that I noticed:
In the logs, I can see:
inder_network_poll_operator_ok() slot1 lalpha=Willkommen, salpha=Willkommen, numeric=26202, Willkommen, mcc=262, mnc=02, gsm

However, from my provider, I got:
MCC: 262
MNC: 23
Maybe I simply need to change that? Where do I do that?

I think it would be good if you updated to the latest version of SFOS. Things may have changed, and an old version is not about to receive a fix anyway.

Thanks for your reply. I understand that there will be no fix (in terms of bug fix) for my release.

However, if possible I would like to at first see if there is any way to circumvent the problem with my release, since everything is running smooth right now.

E.g. is there a way to change the MNC via config file?

It does help to lead with what you consider important and not put it last.

But anyway - that should be this package:

Probably buildable with SFDK, and should also let you find if the info is indeed installed as some sort of config files and where.
(/usr/share/mobile-broadband-provider-info/serviceproviders.xml)

Some people have also reported needing to activate VoLTE to be allowed on certain oddball networks.

Thank you for your suggestions. Since I am not experienced with SFDC, I took the way to update to the later version (4.6.0.15).
It seems like the “enabling” of 5G in 4.6 resolved the issue.
