[4.4.0.64][XA2] Private mode in browsers crashes often

REPRODUCIBILITY: too often
OS VERSION: 4.4.0.64
HARDWARE: XA2
UI LANGUAGE: polish
REGRESSION: yes

DESCRIPTION:

Browsing in private mode (both native Sailfish browser and Android Opera/Vivaldi) is almost unusable. Crashes easly when browsing. When swiped out from browser it’s 50/50 that is wont come back without a crash.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Browse as usual, but in private mode.
  2. App crash.

EXPECTED RESULT:

It should work as before (to be honest: it happend sometimes in previous versions, but now it’s almost unusable).

ACTUAL RESULT:

Browsers crash like crazy.

MODIFICATIONS:

Few apps from Storeman, but I suppose nothing related.

Can you give more details how it’s crash? I know 2 ways how browser crash.

  • First one: it gets minimized and greyed, but only the browser ;
  • Second one: Browser is minimized and all opened apps are greyed ;

Do you have the same behaviour using normal mode?

The first one - browser gets greyed out. Both in private and normal mode, but private mode is almost unusable.

Do the same websites work fine without private mode?

Same issue here (Xperia X sfos 4 4), except it happens in both private and normal modes.

Same here. If memory serves this has previously been reported for 4.4.0.64 in a more general thread about apps crashing due to lack of memory. Some have suggested this started when sandboxing was introduced for all apps. Whatever the reason, the browser seems most affected and, for me at least, crashes several times a day.

@Objectifnul @Steve_Everett @szrpj do the same websites work without private mode?

Thus is that caused by websites you are only using in private mode (maybe even the same) or by private mode itsself?

Don’t often use private mode, crashes are just using the browser normally.
