4.3.0.12 Unable to use twitter

UI LANGUAGE: French
REGRESSION: (compared to previous public release: Yes, No, ?): yes

DESCRIPTION:

unable to create a twitter account

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. go to settings, accounts
  2. add a twitter account
  3. accept the conditions

EXPECTED RESULT:

it should create the account

ACTUAL RESULT:

it fails with error : “error with the account, unable to create account”

I’ve notice too that I cannot even browse to twitter.com. The browser shows an error although I can browse to other websites :

Do you mean 4.3.12, or are you really using a version that is well over a year old?

Sorry for this basic question but did you test your internet connection by trying to open another website at this time?
I had the exact same problem while trying twitter and I just forgot to turn on wifi!
Then the browser opened the twitter page as expected.

EDIT:The used wifi goes through an SFR Red connection with a vpn.

yes I’m writing right now from the browser. If I open a new tab, I can’t access twitter.com…weirdProblem only with the stock Browser. I can access twitter.com using an android browser.
I cleared all navigation datas from the stock browser.
The issue persist though :confused:

It works as expected for my XA2 Plus with 4.3.0.12 (language: French).

I’ll wait 4.4 to see if it fixes it :slight_smile: if not I’ll try lineage os or /e/

I had a issue with mobile reception not working.
I went to system settings and used the utility “restart network connection”
That’s fixed the issue of creating the twitter account and the issue of twitter in the browser.

/e/ is not the right OS for you if you like using Twitter-like apps! :wink:

LineageOS or simply the Stock Sony Android ROM are much better choices for such users!
