[4.2.0.21][XA2 Dual SIM] Camera app unable to save pictures to device memory

DESCRIPTION:

The default camera app cannot save images to device memory. The camera animation for taking a shot is normal, but no image is saved. I tried with both cameras, as well as with video, but the problem persists. It works fine if memory card is the chosen storage.

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Choose device memory as storage for the default camera app
  2. Launch camera app
  3. Take a picture

EXPECTED RESULT:

Picture is saved to the device memory.

ACTUAL RESULT:

No image is saved.

How do you know that no picture is saved?

I my case, at times pictures are saved but not shown in the gallery app because of indexing with tracker failed or did not yet occur.

Can you check home/defaultuser/Pictures/Camera? Maybe you’ll find the images there …

You are correct, it was indeed an indexing issue. What draw me off was that the image did not appear in the camera app’s gallery, and that using memory card as storage worked fine.

I refreshed the media database with utilities, and this seemed to have fixed the problem.
