[3.4.0.24] Hotspot not working

UI LANGUAGE: French
REGRESSION: Yes

DESCRIPTION:

Remote device connected through Hotspot has no access to Internet

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Enable Hotspot
  2. Connect a remote device
  3. Try to reach Internet from the remote device

EXPECTED RESULT:

Hotsport is set up correctly but no traffic is redirected to mobile data interface

ACTUAL RESULT:

Remote device is complaining that no Internet access is available

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

French SFOS user here - both with XA2 and Pro1, and Hotspot works for me, on Bouygues Telecom.
I had Orange before and it worked as well.

Maybe that’s a restriction on your mobile plan? Does that work e.g. on Android or iOS?

A long time ago, I was unable to get a HotSpot working while using a SIM from LycaMobile (different phone, though, although that wouldn’t have mattered). Turned out their TOS specifically forbid sharing the internet connection and the provider had taken technical measures to prevent customers from doing so (which I finally was able to overcome).

So, yes, I second the reply from @cartron. First thing you should check is your mobile plan. It’s not unheard of that providers block tethering on a technical level.
