Thanks @abyzthomas I have been wondering why my contacts are going missing and coming back in whatsapp for some of the contacts and the phone has been slow for a long time. Checked top and saw that android services mentioned in together.jolla.com are taking 100% cpu.

Quoted from TJC:
EDIT1: With Android enabled and my usual 640 contacts, two more processes sit at 90% to 100% CPU, d.process.acore and apkd-bridge . Process apkd-bridge is high for about 20 seconds but contactsd takes 2 minutes 55 seconds and d.process.acore 4 minutes 5 seconds. With syncing set to automatic the next sync start almost immediately!

I was wondering for a long time what happened to my stable phone that started closing the foreground apps everynow and then. This is the culprit it seems.
