Will update thanx.

Do you think it makes sense to ask directly the Volla support? I’m not sure how close you are with them. But if you think it makes sense, to ask them, I will do.

Update went fine by the way.

New problem on my side. Nothing really problematic, anyway: For some reasons patchmanager isn’t working anymore. Can someone confirm?

I did not use patchmanager much, but at least the Meecast patch lockscreen widget from chum and Nephros QR code handler from github cannot be activated.
But I think I had that with 5.0.0.62 over Summer already…

Worked flawless, great work👏

Removed all patches, reinstalled patchmanager. And it is working again.

… the recommended procedure…

Good it worked

I have the impression that the following problem might be related to the latest SFOS built: since updating to 5.0.0.71 sometimes the internet connection hangs: when unlocking sometimes it takes between one to approximately 5 minutes for apps to get internet connection again. In this time apps are like offline. This happens with both, Wifi and mobile internet. Never had that with previous 5.0.0.68.
Anyone else having similar issues?

No, mine works like expected. I had similar issues with my Xperia 10 III in the past. That problem came with an update and vanished with another one. I never found out what the problem was, even though I searched for a while. I somehow had the feeling that DNS was the culprit, but I’m missing the abilities to really dig into the deep.

Fellfrosch!!!
You paved the way¡
I installed Blocky some days ago and left it unconfigured. Uninstalling blocky and rebooting and all lags are gone, snappy fast and reliable as before, your DNS hint made my day!

¡many thanks and cheers¡

Hi all! @MeeGo-Junky @Fellfrosch

After using Sailfish OS for a while now on the Volla Quintus (same hardware as Darian Bond I), how well does it work?

Especially: Did you get the 5G to work impeccably now, even while roaming? I see mentionings from October that the 5G downgraded to “2G” or “2.5G”, what do you even mean by that, like GPRS 50kbps?

Does WIFI Access Point i.e. tethering work great?

Does USBC charging work great?

Do you know of any e-SIM manager that works on Sailfish OS for this phone and modem?

How long does a fully charged battery work in your experience, while connected to 5G?

If you like to share the “dmesg” and modem status anonymized would be great, to learn to know the device a bit better.

Thanks

My roaming issue was i think down to incorrect APN settings.

WiFi AP doesnt work, but usb tethering does.

Cant comment on esim

Charging is fine afaik

These days, both 4G and 5G work perfectly for me. VoLTE works too.
Getting stuck on the 2G network was a problem in the early days.

I had so far no problems with roaming - on no network. (I went to France, Belgium, GB and Switzerland since I have the Quintus)
The device runs very stable.
I’m still missing flashlight and main camera badly, but if you are able to get an older one, that shouldn’t be a problem.
Charging works. Battery is enough to bring you through a day, without getting into some stress (I’m most of the time on 5G). So battery life is OK but not good.
As @piggz wrote, tethering via USB works fine. Via WiFi it would be nicer but at least there is working tethering.
No e-SIM here, so I can’t tell you anything on this topic.

I second all that Fellfrosch said.
Battery in my device is drained by WLAN quite heavy, with 5G not a problem. I am daily driving this device since July, fully satisfied. I have a device from the batch with working flashlight and camera. Picture quality is quite good, I carry regularly a dedicated mirrorless camera but I frequently take pictures with the Quintus, because in some situations the quality is sufficient.
From Fellfrosch reports it appears that multiple batches with slightly different hardware are around, I would not be happy with a newer device such as Fellfrosch one with working flashlight and camera, so it might be critical which device you get, different batches might result in divergent user experiences.
I think eSIM is something that SFOS does not support AFAIK

The changed components are shipped since April 2021 as you can see here:

can you link to an android recovery image for your version?

What do you mean with android recovery image for my version?
I just followed the instructions to flash Sailfish. I’m not aware, that I had anything to do with an android recovery image.

WHenever I needed to go back to Volla OS, I used UBports Installer.

I don’t know if this helps, but here is stated, that with OTA 10 in Ubuntu Touch, the camera driver is fixed for UT.

No, you didnt need to do anything, but if you can point me to the android version for your device type I can probably extract the vendor image, and you can see if that fixes anything

Can’t you simply use the last Volla OS image? I have no clue where to look for this android version. Or can you possibly tell me how to look for that version.

Edit:
If I enter the recovery mode that’s the UBport Recovery mode, do I have a chance to see it from here?
