Piggz made some efforts for the Pro1X port, but I believe it ended up in the far too hard basket.

I believe this is something Jolla should be concerned with, rather than leaving it entirely up to the community to resolve. They’ve probably got something on the board, but another thing I notice is that I can’t see any option to enable calling over WiFi in Sailfish.
There are no plans to switch off 2G in the UK for another few years at least as @Sturton pointed out above. So no need to replace your phone.
3 network will shut down their 3G service by 2024. As for 2G, the 3 network never used it at all, as they were the first all 3G network.

We have the same in NZ, where all but one network operators provide 2G service. The others dropped 2G many years ago.
