Mhmm I understand…
Thanks for the reply!
Well, we’ll just have to wait for luck, for now I’ll keep the Xperia XA2 which is more than fine, despite its 7 years.
Let’s hope they don’t stop supporting it!
I believe Jolla is highly unlikely to support the Sony Xperia 10 VI.
Limited Team Size: Jolla currently has a lean team of only about 50 employees, operating at full capacity.
Parallel Project Needs: The engineering team must simultaneously maintain Sailfish OS 5.0, oversee the delivery of the Jolla C2, and complete the development of the new Jolla Phone (J2).
Commercial Obligations: Much of their resources are also devoted to fulfilling B2B contracts, such as privacy-focused automotive cockpit solutions.
Maintenance Costs: Fixing vulnerabilities in the Xperia 10 IV and 10 V (such as VoLTE and camera drivers) is a lengthy and resource-intensive process, indicating that supporting new Sony hardware typically offers a low return on investment for such a small team.
Btw.: Fixing things like VoLTE and camera drivers are no vulnerabilities…these are “only” missing functionalities. Vulnerabilities should be almost the same on all devices running the same Sailfish OS version.
Sadly the 10V is missing a lot but VoLTE is not missing, I use it regularly
