The update went smooth on Xperia 10 III.
Great to see the browser search issue fixed, and that part of the explanation was a fresh profile. Explains my issues with the tablet.
thanks for the update! sad news, but iâm stoked that its still in the works!
X10III upgrade (.73-.76) went fine. I was not affected by the fixed issues so canât test. Didnât notice regressions
Not .76 specific : predictably lost sound with the âhelpâ of âMy BMWâ (big fat Android app which uses GPS).
Disabling Location in SFOS while not actively needed seems to reduce (but not cure) the occurrence frequency.
X10III upgrade (.73-.76) went fine over the air OTA on XA2 Ultra.
Happy with all the under the hood improvements, curious to test VPN improvements.
Good to see this Android 13.
Wire Messenger runs rather smooth! But it fails even under the latest Android support layer to enable the loudspeaker, so (wired) headphone required.
Sad that Jolla has to spend time on Microsoft integration and cannot over 13 years even to bring one single European Messenger App to be pre-packed and integrated into the OS.
I recently updated this device from a messed up 4.6.
Fore those whom it may concern: 4.6 and above got stuck in startup (spinning circle and only pull down menu accessible)
Fix? SIM card had no PIN. Assign PIN code in other device and XA2 Ultra 4.6-5.0 started fine.
@n900n - I see your comment about Messenger important, but not relevant for this threadâŚ
Should we add it for the next community meeting?
XA2 here. After updating to yesterdayâs pre-release, my device canât play 1080p smoothly under Android AppSupport with PipePipe. 720p is mostly fine at 30fps, but not at 60fps.
Before updating, 1080p was playing fine even at 60fps in PipePipe. This goes back to at least the 4.x times, when Iâve also been using NewPipe and VLC.
Native apps show no regression in this regard. Iâve tried Browser and Gallery with 720p60 and 1080p.
How can I check if I have installed Google services in AppSupport or not?
Have a look at Android appsupport in settings. There you can allow or cancel MicroG for Google services.
I forgot to do that on my Xperia Xa2+. I am still on Android 11 after the update. Donât know if this is due to me âallowingâ microG.
Thanks for this update.
The pdate finished fine for me but before I have 3 little issues. First after starting installation in the settings UI the device go to shutdown instaed to reboot. Then the first keypad was very dimmed (maybe related to my settings). And last after the last reboot the wlan was on but not connected.
MicroG shouldnât affect the update [Release notes] Tampella 5.0.0.73 - Early Access - #16 by Keto . I think someones have installed full Google services to their AAS, which this affects.
Yes, MicroG is OK with the AppSupport Update.
If you donât know whether you have installed Google services or, not, then you most likely have not. If you have and donât know that, then there might be other issues as well ![]()
The recommendation is not to install any hacks where you donât understand what you are doing, because then it is extremely difficult and time consuming to help if something goes wrong.
@Kea something else has probably gone wrong in your update if your AppSupport is still on Android 11, just allowing MicroG should not cause that.
Jolla C2 here, update went fine. But screen brightness was ultra low (to the point where i thought the phone was stuck and not displaying anything) when requested for the unlock code. After update, screen brightness was low again when requesting the code, but rapidly reached a normal level.
Which device do you have?
C2 (updating from 5.0.0.73)
I think there havenât been any changes that would affect the screen brightness on C2, so that is probably an older issue, which just happens to be random. Canât completely rule out actual hardware issue there either, but if the brightness otherwise works ok, then that is unlikely.
The WLAN drivers on C2 are not great, so unexpected behavior there is, well, unfortunately kind of expected⌠We are trying to improve that.
Update from .73 to .76 done without problems on Xperia 10 III. On XA2 the phone shut down, but maybe this was related to the fact that I just started the update and didnât enter security code when it was expected. I connected the phone to charger, it started up, asked for security code and ran through the update without problems.
On 10 III I still have the strange behavior that app updates from Jolla store donât work as expected, I always get the âAppstore doesnât reactâ error. The only way to update apps is from the app page. Had this in previous versions too, but as far as I remember it had been enough to close the store and start it again.
XA2 doesnât have this problem.
Will also test on C2 later.
Why is the Android security patch level still not updated? At least on Xperia 10 V it is still from 2024âŚ
Thank you for asking that. I always find it difficult to know what needs to be uninstalled before and update. This is one of my major concerns âwhether MicroG is the same as Google Services.
That and OK Board.
