Was there a Browser update in .17 release? I can’t open two sites any more that worked before on the new Jolla phone, but since the update I just get a white/blue screen. Sites work in Vivaldi Android browser, so must be something related to the SFOS native browser…
I live on the German-Czech border, and no matter where I am, I only see max. half a signal bar.
Download/Upload rates are ok.

Yes, I have noticed the same thing, although not new in this release for me, .16 also showed oddly low cell reception for me even though internet worked well.
I also see that the network signal is very low in general. Perhaps this is a contributing factor to the call issues that have been reported on the forum.
In the countryside, I generally see 1-2% signal strength for both 4G and 2G, as reported by oFono. My laptop’s WWAN card reports 60-70% signal strength to the same tower. The numbers might not be directly comparable.
Percentage level is arbitrary. much more relevant are:
- dB signal level (which is also relative to the receiver sensitivity and other factors) and
- level of errors in the transmission which can be fixed in certain degree anyway.
As all that is very relative many phones or OSes simply show something good to the user despite not being technically exact at all..

In my case, the phone’s 4G signal strength in the same location varies between around -113 dBm to -127 dBm.
Is there some recommended gui app to check dB and all signal related infos?
Pretty sure there is known bug at play here.
TL;DR an attempted fix for what metric the C2 used, made it show wrong info for everyone else.
The signal strength is less shit than it looks.

there is a new app called Catcher Catchers, but its in german so could cause issues

German language would not be problem, but it is from author who litteraly spaming openrepos by AI generated apps 
Agree, it is not the language that could cause issues…
How to protect yourself (or onewcomers) from any kind of malware (not saying this is one, but) brought to openrepos by absolute new unknown publishers?

Perhaps try to clear some browsing data in the browsers settings.
This helped me sometimes to recover sites.
Just asking, anyone else with camera isssue once updated to …17 , fun fact: Tarkka is working OK
If you mean selfie camera showing black, then some people have ran into that, but setting the exposure mode back to Auto will fix it. If it is something else, then I suggest you open bug report.
@Keto now that at least two big life quality fixes have been done (and much more!), would love to see another small release to drop

Exactly the same problem persists
Update succeeded only after reboot (well, forced reboot, since I let the battery run out sitting in the drawer).
Just to make it easier next time:
Either press the power button for a (very) long time and let the Jolla logo appear and disappear more than once, before you release the button (might be several attempts necessary). Or take out the battery and reinsert it (might be more than once necessary).
