Fortunately, I couldn’t determine the behavior of the Jolla 1 and Xperia X.
Sometimes the network was gone due to poor reception in a building, for example. But that could usually be solved via the SF utilities and “restart network” or via “restart ofono” etc. without a complete reboot.
Same here on Sailfish Xperia X - when crossing borders occasionally it happens, but I had just to press the OK and everything goes on normally.
Has anyone ever found a solution for this problem? I’m using an XA2 with SailfishOS and it shows me the “SIM card removed” warning 5-7 times a day, so it means rebooting the phone 5-7 times a day, losing calls, etc. I live not far from a border (about 30km) but it does not seem to be the problem here (does the same thing when I’m in other places). I checked the forum but I did not found a solution…
Hm, perhaps springs again?
Seems like hardware issue to me.
Making thze SIM thicker might press it better against the springs.
I would try to add one layer of thin office adhesive tape under the sim card and cut the excess precisely all around the SIM.
It’s important to do it step by step, as excessive thickness could bend the contacts more and make matters worse.
So, one, test, a second one, test…

I’m not sure it is a hardware issue.
I’ve had this on my XA2, XA2 plus and X10 iii phones - and always when I travel across country boarders (i.e. going from normal mobile data to roaming or vice-versa) .
I think it would be very unlikely that all three phones would have a ‘sim tray failure’ in such a specific circumstance of changing mobile networks and at no other times.

I do have it now with XA2+ always when near to a border!
I have and these issues whenever crossing borders wit X, XA2 and X III. Reboot helps.
Ok, probably not a HW problem then.
I was not aware of this issue however I crossed borders many times.
Reboot is the most given -completely unacceptable- answer here, hmm?

I am not sure, I did not not have it with my earlier piece of HW, a XA2.
