Next gen native Camera app RAWfish

Hey everybody,

Here are some RAWfish news for the JP2 and even, the XA2.
Transitory stage and name: RAWfish-ir
@mad_dev may add more parts and proofread it when he has time.
For the moment, it was strictly human directed and tested, but coded by AI.
Audited on different sessions and models.

Solved bugs, features:
-Focus works better and has clearer modes: Auto, once, manual
-Manual focus distances can be calibrated
-Faster JPG and DNG capture
-Lens shading (luninosity+tint) correction map included into the DNG EXIF
-Lens shading can be user calibrated
-Custom white balance on the fly, manual °K + tint adjustment
-Histogram adapts to RAW or JPG (different exposure latitudes)
-Spot measure point RGB represented in the histogram
-Configurable tools: peaking, zebra, level (horizon)
-Experimental (well, the whole thing is expreimental…) Long exposure mode “Sigma” (stacking)
-Improved loupe for focus control and spot measure (separated from the zoom)
-Bracketting (3x: +/-0 EV, 3x: +/-1EV, 3x: +/-2EV, 3x: +/-3EV)
-Flash + constant light
-Gallery DNG previews: deletion synced to real DNG deletion
-Screenshot with both volume buttons

Next to catch:
-Trying to find how to remove the extreme denoising happening at low ISO in the viewfinder.

Packages in two parts:
-A CLI to make probes and take pictures from the terminal
-The UI
This way, everyone can make an UI to their taste,
The CLI engine may also be used by other apps to generate pictures.

TL;DR: Simple mode is still here :–)

Has been tested on two JP2 since ~3 weeks.
But still, is experimental: use at your own risk.
Feel free, of course, to comment, report bugs, post ideas!

Hi,
Thanks for testing.
I have no idea, tbh. If the stock camera is not working, I ignore what is blocking.
Perhaps @Sharks, have you got some enlightenment?

Howevenr if you like, you can go to SfOS Settings → app tab → Rawfish-ir, press the “Create the device profile files” button.
Then post here /mnt/sfos/home/defaultuser/.local/share/com.rawfish/rawfish-ir/device-profiles/generated-hal.json and /mnt/sfos/home/defaultuser/.cache/com.rawfish/rawfish-ir/rawfish-ir.log.
It could be interesting to see them.

It works but seems a little unstable, got engine stopped’ error a lot.

Also sometimes the exposure goes crazy on the preview, needs a restart to go back to normal.

Love the manual focus!

On my port, X10IV is working great with this app. I currently don’t have access to a nice subject to share sample screenshots or anything, but I can attest in the ~10 minutes I’ve been fiddling with it that this app appears to be a nice incremental improvement over RAWFish / Indraw builds I’ve tried to date. JPEGs come out with correct colours, RAW files are working great too. Shutter speed and focus controls are all working well.

I know RAWFish and friends have their own implementation of droidmedia etc., bypassing what is provided by the port there, but the Jolla port has issues physically talking to the camera hardware, and RAWFish can’t get around that. It’s all good and well that some users have overlayed blobs etc. from the stock firmware, but clearly something is still wrong enough on the Jolla port that RAWFish can’t set up a conversation with the physical sensors.

Hmm ok, on what device did you test?

About the manual focus, something to know is that it is not really calibrated, on the JP2, at least.
That means that the reported distance/dioptries seem not to correspond to measured reality.
That’s why a calibration tool was made.
We can activate it in the settings.
Then:
Place the phone at, say, 10 cm, of a contrasted object, make the focus there, and pres on “10cm” in the menu. Repeat for all distances.
This kind of calibrates in order to match between displayed distances, sharpness and real distances.
However, a so tiny lens will never be as precise as a photo lens, of course.
And they are not made for manual adjustment. The default mode is more like “let’s move it until it is sharp”.
But it helps, a bit.

Back on stopping engine, as @boshtannik, you can send the log, if you like. ( /mnt/sfos/home/defaultuser/.cache/com.rawfish/rawfish-ir/rawfish-ir.log)

This was on the JP2026

Log attached!

Oh, I was confused by the 23mm written focal length with a 26mm diplayed image.
So, that was the front camera?

Thanks for the log.
