Hold up. So you need to reflash Android to get the updates, then reflash back to Sailfish OS to get the battery working properly (I recall updating the phone to latest before flashing but not which version)? I tried flashing the v4b_zambezi img alone but had no luck with the battery (now the battery is swelling & I need to get a replacement—likely due to overcharging since the OS isn’t helping). OMG, this would be a major headache to get all the backups together & re-partitioning for a /nix disk (really wish Sailfish OS came with basic f2fs tools). Does the built-in backup manager restore everything or just some partitions?

No, this was me correcting my mistake of initially flashing to SFOS from the “wrong” version of Android (that is, 13). So I had to revert my phone back to Android and update it to 14 so I could get my phone to the reportedly best base from where to flash it to SFOS.

Out of curiosity, has Sony even released new blobs after the ones that fixed battery indicator?
There are new blobs but with a changed and incompatible communication protocol AFAIK.

Over the last year and a half Sony have released many new versions of the blobs (https://opendevices.sony.net/aosp-on-xperia-open-devices/downloads/software-binaries):
- Version 4a in early August 2024
- Version 4b in late August 2024
- Version 5a in late November 2024
- Version 6a in late March 2025
- Version 7a in late May 2025
- Version 7b in late September 2025
To date, since September 2024, Jolla has not released any further adapted SFOS installations for the Xperia 10 v (or the equivalent Murray images for the Xperia 10 iv) based on any later binary blobs than v3a.

I’m still super happy with the 10V after a year of daily driving. It just annoys me to always ask somebody for a phone, when I want to take a picture. I was holding my breath at two points:
In June last year Mal stated “I had camera working in some test I did with the new blobs.”
In October in an official announcement was stated “We know that we get camera working…”
But in November Raine answered a question in a community meeting with “We fully acknowledge, we have promised to deliver Sailfish to Xperia 10 IV/V and we remain committed…but…”
And that was the point, where I made my peace with the story. That’s life….looking forward to J2

I had it same.. bought it as better phone than XA2, looked forward to have strong phone with SFOS in it for upcoming years.. unfortunately not.. Camera is also pity but I can handle it with other phone as I’m not guy, who loves taking pictures.. but QR codes are pain in the ass 
But.. still satisfied with this as a daily driver .. also looking forward to J2 <3

You had me fooled there for a while 
It sickens me every day that the X10V I bought on eBay two years ago had to be reflashed to Android last year, but that’s just the way it is. This generation of Xperias is never going to be usable. And as stated in my post above, banking is pretty much impossible to get working in Ireland, and coming down the road are government mandated identity apps etc. which you can be sure will only work with iPhones and native Androids. 
The X10V is still a good phone with good performance, with a fully working Sailfish it would be a great phone, but shrug 
I have to admit, I do not fully understand how I had you fooled. But great that you seem to enjoy it 
I’m really using this phone (with SFOS) in over a year’s daily life for everything, except taking pictures and scanning barcodes. Including banking but that’s a country specific issue, I guess. Sorry to hear, that it is not working at all in Ireland. Most likely it will be the same with J2 then. So you could use your reverted 10V as backup for these tasks then.

I have an Xperia 10 iv and am wondering how you’ve overcome the obstacle that the phone is stuck in flight mode. Mine is in flight mode ever since, so no way to make it a daily driver. By the way, are there any recommendations to update the Sony blobs for the 10 iv (from 3a I guess)? I’ve read there are improvements for the 10 v using the 4a blobs, but no word (or I missed it) about the 10 iv.

Indeed its a pity that Jolla moved their focus; the XPeria 10 V with all the functionalities would have been an excellent daily driver. I love the elongated screen estate, especially great for reading / watching movies.

You need to enable Airplane Mode in Settings and then restart your device. After restarting, you can disable Airplane Mode under “Mobile Network” — but only there!
I’ve been feeling this way for a year now with the 10 IV.

When you have got connectivity working again (see above post) do NOT use Airplane mode again (I removed the button from the top menu in settings so that I didn’t accidentally use it). Instead just toggle wifi, bluetooth, mobile, etc imdividually to turn connectivity on and off.
