am I wrong or is this site from the Free software foundation? https://librephone.fsf.org/

They say this: ”This project’s goal is not another Android distribution, but a long-term project to better understand and reverse-engineer the nonfree blobs used by virtually all SoCs made today.”

So if I’m not wrong this is not from a news site but from fsf self so that’s not noise that’s a claim from the foundation.

Oh, your are right, I did not make myself clear: with noise I meant the reverberations from the echoing media, totally legitimate, as well as the foundations claim.
But I have seen multiple and similar claims over the years, that is why I consider it as a lot of noise.
Let’s see what we get when the dust has settled.
I hope the best, the claims are valid and I support it, it is good for all us, when there are a variety of Linux based smartphone operating systems available…
In that sense : fingers crossed

People want to recreate the success of Linux on “IBM compatible” machines. Nowadays it actually isn’t hard to build a device that size and with all phone features, that has a compatible architecture inside. But what would it cost to build in small batches? And what about battery life and a few more phone-specific challenges that haven’t quite been solved by Phosh etc.

Honestly, I probably shared the news more out of hope than technical understanding.

And I definitely share that hope. It’s time FLOSS expands its horizons just like it did with laptops etc. 10, 20 years ago.
