Jolla Phone update - The Other Half spec

oh cool, this thread is still a delight a full week later. any mod wanna move the wireless charging bickering debate to a separate post?

i’m personally excited about ToH news, and un-excited about pedantic arguments about whether each poster’s argument itself is relevant and justified.

Oh yes please, would love something like a LoRa aprs device or meshcore / meshtastic device stapled to my phone at all times.

While I understand the appeal - would there be an actual usecase for constant LoRa?

It would depend on who you are and what you do would have a use for it since I often work in the Swedish mountains, where phone connectivity is spotty if you can even get a signal. And often times I do things where a normal pmr radio would interupt wildlife. So something like meshcore would be extremely handy then.

Makes sense. Thanks!

A really nice idea. In the world we currently live in, this could be very useful going forward.

Can the i2c pins also be used as raw GPIO pins, SPI or I3S? Or is it hardware limited to I2C/I3C? What is the max speed for the I3C bus?

Almost all mobile SoCs nowadays have a pinmux feature allowing most pins to be used as raw GPIOs. What other options are available depends on the specific pins chosen, but it’s quite likely they are GPIO/I2C/I3C only.

Can we have pogo pin connector reference ? I saw 2.9mm spacing in the specification Jolla Phone TOH | Sailfish OS Documentation

In general a CAD model would be great, especially for printing your own TOHs easily!
