Jolla Phone (2026) + Windows 11: Has anyone successfully used USB Developer Mode (RNDIS)?

Hello, I have found a solution, but it’s a bit complicated

You will need WSL2 with Ubuntu (i used 26.04)

1) First install usbipd on w11 :

>winget install --interactive --exact dorssel.usbipd-win

2) List the usb devices :

> usbipd list

Connected:
BUSID VID:PID DEVICE STATE
1-4 0e8d:0a02 RNDIS Not shared
1-6 0489:e156 MediaTek Bluetooth Adapter Not shared
2-1 0b95:1790 ASIX AX88179 USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Not shared

3) Bind to the Jolla RNDIS Interface :

>usbipd bind --busid 1-4

> usbipd list
Connected:
BUSID VID:PID DEVICE STATE
1-4 0e8d:0a02 RNDIS Shared

4) Open an Ubuntu in WSL in the SAME terminal session, we have to install the kernel module for RNDIS

>sudo apt update
>sudo apt install -y build-essential flex bison libssl-dev libelf-dev bc dwarves git usbutils
>git clone --depth 1 --branch linux-msft-wsl-$(uname -r | cut -d- -f1)
https://github. com/microsoft/WSL2-Linux-Kernel.git ~/WSL2-Linux-Kernel
/!\ REMOVE THE ADDED SPACE .COM /!
>cd ~/WSL2-Linux-Kernel
>zcat /proc/config.gz > .config
>scripts/config --module USB_NET_RNDIS_HOST
>make olddefconfig
*>sed -i 's/next_path = strchr(s, /next_path = (char )strchr(s, /’ tools/lib/bpf/libbpf.c
>make modules_prepare
>make M=drivers/net/usb modules KBUILD_MODPOST_WARN=1

5) Enable the kernel module

>sudo modprobe usbnet
>sudo rmmod rndis_host cdc_ncm cdc_ether 2>/dev/null
>sudo insmod ~/WSL2-Linux-Kernel/drivers/net/usb/cdc_ether.ko
>sudo insmod ~/WSL2-Linux-Kernel/drivers/net/usb/rndis_host.ko

6) Now you can attach (in powershell) the usb device

>attach --wsl --busid 1-4

7) Get the interface with ip ad (in Ubuntu)

6: enx9ac3292a8b79: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN group default qlen 1000

8) Set the interface UP and add a IP

>sudo ip link set enx9ac3292a8b79 up
>sudo ip addr add 192.168.2.14/24 dev enx9ac3292a8b79
>ping 192.168.2.15
>ssh defaultuser@192.168.2.15

And voila you can access the device with a USB cable!
