Is Sailfish Browser orphan?

I wonder if adopting Angelfish (and theming it for SFOS) is the only realistic option going forward…

I have been thinking the outdated browser. While I greatly appreciate Jolla’s effort to update it to ESR102 I think they have their hand quite full with everything. I know they are able to update it with time but as I would like to see acceleration processes where the native browser would become as soon as possible up-to-date.

And this change in my head needs more manpower to realize. While I think there is great effort with Angelfish for example I don’t know if that fully replaces the need of up to date pre-installed browser.

As this community have so many skillful people I have been thinking if they could somehow team up and start accelerating the browser development. Even if @flypig played the superhero card (again) and takes as next SailfishOS project again on the browser I think there would be much more power in team effort.

I can’t to contribute to browser with code, or currently even on testing front. I can’t think much more than financial contribute for this cause from my end, but I can’t do that before there is a team to send monthly support.

This is more of like stream of thought I wrote without really understanding things this require. Hoping for better future, while I know people have a lot on their plate. But I don’t know, maybe this could spark something.

Thank you and apologies for long monolog.

Wishing all the best for everyone for the holidays!
