Is microtube broken again? A bug report and status thread!

What do you mean they don’t work properly? We’ve tested them and they worked fine just fine

Check out SailTube. That one also plays YouTube videos on-the-fly, and has no stuttering on my XA2. There are other apps that play 720p live videos flawlessly on an XA2: LLS vPlayer and AllRadio (BBC News HD channel).

Can understand if you don’t want to invest even more time on this app, but it’s poor taste to bullshit your way out when you don’t really understand an issue.

That one also plays videos via qt multimedia and doesn’t do split video and audio like microtube does so it does not apply as comparison

again, using qtmultimedia and not split video and audio

it’s poor taste to call what I’m saying bullshit when you don’t understand how the apps work

microtube (as well as picoplayer) does things in unique and never before seen way, which might seem like it is the problem here when no other apps have issue, but it’s only because microtube does things in unique way that youtube playback is possible. And if it’s fine on every phone since 2014 to 2023 BUT xa2, sorry but xa2 is the one at fault.

I have microtube on 6 sfos devices and none of them have any issues. The only issues I’ve seen is yours with XA2 and another guy with XA2 having the exact same issues, so it’s definitely device specific.

I dont really understand how subscriptions work in microtube (on newpipe you just refresh the feed and thats it) but i assume that you need to synchronize? When i try that it gets stuck on 0, though i did get it synchronized for one channel once, but it seemed quite broken. Other options dont really work too.

So, when you subscribe to channel, from time to time it will check if there are new videos, and add them to the list, then if you click on a channel, it will list all the videos microtube knows about from that channel. So when you subscribe to channel, initially there won’t be any, but if you launch microtube in like couple hours it will go through sync and there will be new videos available.

Or you can sync all the videos from that channel (or from all subscribed channels) but it will take a bit of time. It wasn’t stuck at 0, it was fetching all the videos, then when it finishes you’ll see like 99+ new videos

If i understand correctly, why not have an option to fetch the newest 10 or so videos from a channel? Wouldnt that be much faster and better (less network usage, etc.)? Also why not just have an option in the pulley menu when subscriptions category is selected to refresh feed?

Because that’s being done automatically

It is that’s why it’s being done automatically

There is such option in developer settings… give me 15 minutes

Yes i understand that its being done automatically, but whats wrong with having an option in the pulley menu to fetch only 10 videos from a channel? Maybe you dont want to wait a couple of hours for that to happen automatically.

I literally asked for 15 minutes and you couldn’t give me that xd

Here you go, go update, took me 5 minutes

That’s not how debugging works… It may be so, or it very well not be so. Your unique way of handling YouTube videos might work well on some devices while exhibiting a totally internal issue on XA2.

Unless you can logically explain what is at fault on an XA2 with microTube, down to something that is outside of your control, you’re just hand-waving the issue. Totally fine to not want to investigate more, but don’t blame external factors when intimately you don’t really understand what breaks here. Thanks!

not on “some”, on EVERY OTHER device

Go ahead and fix it yourself then and stop bothering me

Don’t blame my app when you don’t understand how apps work and how ports work! Thanks!

Well it doesnt really matter because im gonna test tomorrow, but i hope that you keep updating microtube since i might actually be able to use this instead of newpipe, though only after i wait a couple of hours for videos to show up, of course. And if i synchronized ALL videos it would probably take a couple of hours too.

Well i don’t expect youtube to serve normal stream urls for much longer so sooner or later it will die and only sabr streams will be available and yt-dlp won’t be able to circumvent that

but hey, as long as we can extend it’s lifespan i guess

Is there a python library for sabr? I heard that there is one for javascript but i dont know how you would integrate that, probably not with qml js, maybe with nodejs, maybe..?

No you need to implement it in c++ as gstreamer plugin

I have a feeling that this might happen again one day… Maybe there really should be an option to disable auto updates. Anyways are updates really that important anymore now that yt-dlp has to be used (and manually updated)?

updates have nothing to do with it. You cannot stop youtube from updating their api.

What are you even talking about?

Ok i guess i was wrong, i thought that most issues were with playback but maybe not, then auto updates are needed, but it would still be nice if you could disable auto updates.
