I’ve had trouble playing anything with Android YouTube application for the last couple of years. It plays for a while, maybe a minute, and then it starts buffering (or that’s what it seems to do).
Lowering playback quality of fiddling with any other setting doesn’t help.
I don’t mean to hijack this thread, but I would appreciate if anyone has some insight on this.
Hei, guys I just want to update that I purchace the Jolla C2 phone. I’ve actually got it second-hand it was cheaper and more fast, as waiting time for new Jolla are 6-8 weeks.
I’m really looking forward to see what this phone is capable of.
What I noticed while reseraching if Jolla is the right phone for me is that there is a lack of videos on YouTube about this phone and how it works as a daily driver, how the most common Android apps behave when installed via Android App Support or alternative stores. Those kind of things are important for normies as me.
The video from Laura Malvoyante depicts quite an honest and frank view. Recommend to watch that.
Would you be interested in creating content? There should also be videos on various goodies that you likely realize after using a device for while.

Hei guys, an update from me.
I’ve got the phone, set it up completely for myself to use it, but unfortunately this is not a production ready phone.
The phone physically feels very premium and it is very beautiful phone. The screen seems decent and I’m not very interested in camera, so it was okay I guess.
I’ve set up all the apps that I use on my previous phone. Turns out I need a bit more apps that I initially mentioned. Some of them worked simply with Android App Support, others needed to install MicroG.
My bank app, OP mobile, worked with above mentioned workaround. I also was able to use the S-bank app, and Mobile Pay as well.
Some other apps that I had was Immich which was working correctly and syncing my photos, Whatsapp and Messenger were sending notifications correctly, Lidl app was working with MicroG only, Bitwarden autofill was much better than on Android, Proton mail and Calendar were working but didn’t send notifications.
I use the browser mostly and Brave was working but here was my main issue, things were veeery slow. Whole my life I’m used to low budget phones, so I’m not used to high performance but this was just another level. I was dreading everytime when I needed to open my phone.
Then the Bluetooth headphones, worked for some time and then they stopped. I tried to fix it with Audio Output Chooser but didn’t worked.
Another thing that was very bad was jumping between apps, as sometimes apps would restart when opening them again and there is no label which preview is which app in the apps-in-the-background screen.
Also, I used FUTO keyboard, as the system one didn’t had Macedonian Cyrillic support, and it was very slow typing.
As I don’t have too much time to tinker with the phone, I decided to sell the phone.
I really wanted this to be my daily phone, but many stuff on the phone didn’t worked as expected and I was not ready to compromise, especially about the slowness of the phone.
The keyboard part is very easy to solve. No clue about Macedonian Cyrillic level of translation.
If I remember correctly I saw only Russian Cyrillic keyboard three, I didn’t know you can import keyboards layout.
Glad to hear that otherwise SailfishOS could fulfill your needs. And thank you for update! C2 is low end device but Jolla had poll not so long time about next gen Jolla phone. Hopefully that materializes and we get flagship SailfishOS phone Next gen Jolla Phone - #924 by catonyourcomputer
Well, to be Capitan Obvious: it’s a Linux phone with officially supported root access.
I don’t want to take an afternoon to add a keyboard layout to my phone.
I am sure it could be added as default option but that would need someone to make the translation. I assume Jolla doesn’t unfortunately have resources to set native option for every language

Keyboard layout seems easy and good task for AI. Here is result of ChatGPT.
You can try this. It’s not that hard.
You can even edit the default keyboard with the letters and symbols you need.
Missing keyboard layout was just one issue. I didn’t even saw can you have multiple keyboard layouts that you can change easily between, or auto suggestion library.
In general the phone had a lot of shortcomings that I mentioned above, and the keyboard was just one of it.

Yes, the official Jolla keyboard does support multiple layouts that can be easily switched by swiping on the spacebar.
No, the official Jolla keyboard does not support autocomplete or autocorrect in the year of our Lord 2025. It is very time consuming to type on it.
Also, there is no other keyboard in the Jolla Store.
