The Android-based BitBoxApp (APK available at Get started using your BitBox wallet) installs and launches flawlessly via AppSupport on Sailfish OS. However, the connected BitBox02 hardware wallet (via USB-C) cannot be detected by the app.
On desktop and mobile Android systems, this communication is handled via USB (likely HID or similar protocol). The current lack of USB passthrough to AppSupport on Sailfish OS prevents the BitBox02 from functioning.
Request:
Please consider implementing USB passthrough to AppSupport to enable Android apps like BitBoxApp to access the BitBox02 device.
Why this matters:
- The BitBox02 is a popular, open-source hardware wallet developed in Switzerland, widely used for secure self-custody of crypto assets.
- Many privacy-conscious users are drawn to Sailfish OS and also rely on hardware wallets like the BitBox02 — but without USB support, Sailfish currently excludes this critical use case.
This request is limited to BitBox02 support, but implementation may benefit other USB-based tools as well. I leave it to the Sailfish OS team and community to evaluate broader implications.
Thank you for your consideration and commitment to secure, user-controlled mobile computing.
