Does NFC work on Android apps?

Hello,

Quick question:

There are some older threads (2021) that indicate NFC is not supported on Android apps in Sailfish OS. Has this changed since?

(Considering the Jolla C2 after owning the original Jolla phone and loving Sailfish, but not being able to pay via phone would be quite the deal breaker unfortunately. )

But do we really know for Jolla C2 already?

I’m sure that SFOS 5 will bring improvements in many areas. Maybe not everything the first month. But since it’s the new reference device I guess I can be optimist.

Even if NFC would be supported, I suspect that payments would work. Something like safety net, open bootloader checks or root checks could stop your banking app from allowing payments using a sailfish phone.

What payment service are you seriously expecting NFC would make available? Google pay? That doesn’t even work on stuff like GrapheneOS*.

Does the C2 even have NFC?

* Not an actual OS, just an Android distribution.
