Devel-su - Password Should Only Be Required Once Per Session

Apples to oranges. Sudo exists for a reason.
Pretending that SFOS devel-su’s weird behaviour is ok - wrong.

Ok. Sounds handy and safer than becoming root by plain devel-su without any commands.

I get a new device. I enable developer mode. I use devel-su once to install sudo, then I forget about devel-su existence for the rest of the device life. I do not even remember whether it is called devel-su or su-devel - I don’t care.

Is there anything wrong with this approach?

Is this still true? devel-su is still a closed source command line executable?

I’m been googling long and hard but haven’t been able to find much
information about the ‘devel-su’ command, beyond the fact that it’s the
command to use on Sailfish to switch to the root user. I also couldn’t find
the source code for it anywhere.

I’m the author, and the source is (currently) not open. It is on the
list of stuff I’d like to see opened up when I have time for that,
though. It’s one of those small utilities you can easily write during
your lunch break, if you have a basic understanding of UNIX concepts.
