Opening external link with browser shows start view not linked page

REPRODUCIBILITY (% or how often): 100%

DESCRIPTION:

If you have the Home Page set as ‘Start View’ in the browser settings then when the browser is first opened the start view is shown.

This is, in my view, the correct behaviour if you have opened the browser app from app drawer.

If you open a link (say a twitter link from the events screen) then the linked page should be opened directly, not the start view. In this case the start view is again displayed. The linked page is opened ‘behind’ the start view page, and you can get at it by swiping the start view away downwards, but:

  1. It is not obvious that the page has opened
  2. There is an extra, unnecessary, step involved in getting to the page you have opened - that of ‘dismissing’ the start view.

This is, in my view, not the correct behaviour.

If the browser is already open when an external link is clicked you are taken directly to the linked page, which is the correct behaviour

PRECONDITIONS:

‘Start View’ set as the home page in browser settings

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

See above

EXPECTED RESULT:

If a link is clicked on and the browser is NOT already open, the browser is opened and the linked page displayed

ACTUAL RESULT:

If a link is clicked on and the browser is NOT already open, the browser is opened and the start view is displayed with the linked page ‘hidden’ behind the start view.

Thanks for the report. You’re correct that this isn’t the correct behaviour: the page should be opened with the overly closed. We now have an issue filed internally about it.

Was just going to report this same issue XA2 ultra. Good catch.

Here’s a PR to fix this:
