SFOS can use WPA3 since some time (5.1 update?). Nevertheless my Xperia 10 III still stays on WPA2. My Fritz Box is set to offer WPA2+WPA3.
My new Jolla Phone that arrived today also just uses WPA2.
So how can I convince my devices to use WPA3???

If I understood correctly, the Xperia 10 III has a bug in the kernel or some drivers so Sailfish cannot use WPA3 on this device
This was documented in the 5.1 release notes. We need to return to this issue later.
On the new Jolla Phone WPA3 SAE does work. And if issues arise with the use, please file a bug report so we can improve things.

In those release notes, it’s not clear to me if a dash (-) in the “WPA3 works” column is suppose to mean “works fine”, “not working at all” or “unknown/untested”?
Probably “not working at all” because X10III and C2 are the only ones with the dash as well as the only ones with notes under the issues columns.

Wicked - andI was just about to get a new OpenWrt router only for gettin the Wpa3 worked out.
What do you think - is that temporary, or will the X10III be treated as a “legacy” device?
I turned off WPA2 when they added support for WPA3 and haven’t had issues (10II).
Turned off on your router I guess?
I have some device that aren’t capable of WPA3, so no option…
Unless you 100% trust those devices I would separate them onto a different SSID (and vlan).

Also you can change the setting in the network preference on the phone to prefer WPA3 - basically setup the wireless network manually on the phone and chose WPA3 only from the encryption menu.

As far as I understood, there is nothing Jolla can do so I fear it will stay that way 
How is that done? No idea so far…
You go to Settings > WLAN
Then you use the pulley menu to “Connect to Internet” now instead of tapping your SSID you tap “Add Network” and you manually type the SSID, set the Hidden network toggle to the correct value, choose the encryption type as WPA3 SAE and type your passphrase and then you save.

Sorry to come up with that again, but the procedure you described above doesn’t work. Yes, it establishes the connection, but if I look into details again it says WPA2… (on Jolla Phone 2026)
Did you remove the old network config?
I used the forget option on the previous connection. Tried it a dozen times with the same result. But didn’t try with a restart of the phone between the attempts, so maybe worth a try.
So after several attempts even with phone restart I still get no WPA3 connection. I also noticed the the connection is established really fast (not to say immediately) even after a manual setup.
Is it possible that using the forget option doesn’t completely delete the network settings and just hides them somehow? Otherwise I can’t explain why this happens so fast and ognotes the manually set explicit WPA3 option…
Next step: Tried anotger network the device never was connected to before. Even there the manual explicit WPA3 setting leads to a WPA2 connection.
