I am in similar vein, using Linux for 25 years now, I broke so many things. Great advantage of Linux is you can fix everything again and you always learn. Based on this, I suspect you will succeed (independent from the list of apps you provided), I think you bring in the correct mindset for handling SFOS.

The statement does not make sense.
It is not like you get to choose what 80% you get - with that amount of influence you could just pick 100%.
And we agree. I ofc hope that (like linux desktop) we will move in a direction where it doesn’t matter which platform you choose, shit just works for all. But there also has to be a business behind it. Otherwise there won’t be the fonding or backing or usecases enough to let the future build upon this. You will just see the same rich assholes own more and more of the worlds tech industry, and there is nothing to do about it. You have to show the avarage joe the way, and don’t scare them off.

There must be a language barrier somewhere. I really cannot parse what you are saying in a way that makes any sense.

- How do i know you will/won’t have 80-90% success rate with those? It is just a guess based on long experience. You seem perfectly competent to understand that it is an approximation.
- How do i know you didn’t already pre-select to 80-90% of “required” apps, i.e. set a reasonable expectation level. I don’t. But see previous answer, that’s not how that works - you don’t get to pick, reality does.
Also; calling them “compatible apps” makes no sense when the question is if they are compatible. What do you mean to add on top of just calling them “apps”?
Jellyfin works well, both the native (Sailfin) app and also the regular android one.

Welcome to the community, wonderful to have you on board. I have no doubt there will be a little learning curve switching to Sailfish, but I genuinely believe it’s the best system to reduce reliance on big tech. Stick with it, search around on here for answers, and should you have amy questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Just want to give you some confidence regarding Signal and Spotify, including background notifications, both Android versions from AuroraStore work well (with Android app support and correct microG settings). Please check the microG threat by flypig - this is a must to make them properly work next to allow notifications from those apps.
I must say that the only reason is video calling to use Signal Android app instead of the native SFOS Signal app „Whisperfish”. On my C2 day-driver SFOS phone, I use Whisperfish because for chatting it’s simply much better.
It’s sad that we used to have an amazing native Spotify „CuteSpot”app but it’s Spotify’s fault cutting access from all alternative clients.
Android Auto doesn’t work but I hope you get the Renault app working (should work via Bluetooth and Dacia app works…so I guess there’s no big difference).
Facebook / Meta messenger is a crime to install on a SFOS device but if you need it desperately… . I’d rather ask your contacts to move over to Telegram, here we have many native apps and the Android app works as good as Signal.
There’s also an option to install Telegram/Signal/DeltaChat straight via downloading their apk from their websites. The advantage i.e. in case of Signal-Android, it notifies when a new version is available and you updated without the need of a store.

Depending on which EV you own, and if you’re willing to jump through all the hoops involved in obtaining a Fleet API key, Tesla provides a command-line tool that works natively on Sailfish, including direct Bluetooth connection for locking/unlocking the car, etc.
I used their source code, added a UI, and have been using it for years:

I hate messenger, but a lot of people (family/friends) I am in contact with yearly/monthly are only on here. I might not even have their phone number, because they find SMS weird. Otherwise I would just have used SMS for those.
I hope in the future people are moving away from that shit, but not looking like any time soon. I don’t know why this is so popular in Scandinavia. From what I know, whatsapp is much more common from germany and down, but in Scandinavia it’s god damn messenger..

Going from Messenger to SMS is a big jump and a big reduction in functionality. Now wonder they don’t like it.
Why not suggest Signal to them? Ask them: “Are you okay using Messenger and giving your data to Meta or would you like to to something more secure like Signal?”

Notifications don’t work with the official ProtonMail app out-of-the-box (although it might work with microG)
But if you are a paid subscriber, you can use ProtonMail Bridge with the native Jolla E-Mail app (which gets notifications)
You can still use native Spotify with Hutspot + librespot

Might be then that MicroG allows to receive notifications, at least most android apps seems to rely for god unknown reason of cloud based notifications.
