WhatsApp turns off music when sending

DESCRIPTION:

Sending either a message or a voice message on WhatsApp stops whatever is playing on the native Media player.

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Play music on Media player
  2. Send (voice) message.

EXPECTED RESULT:

Music is uninterrupted.

ACTUAL RESULT:

Music stops.

Receiving text messages quietens the music. I’d rather this didn’t happen but it’s probably the same on Android.

Yes, I experience the same behaviour. Also scrolling down in Instagram, music will stop when you hit an advertising containing sound.
(The easy way is to stop using Insta, but I want to follow one food blog, only available there.)

That’s not terribly surprising though the standard behaviour is to cut the volume.

Not sure if the Insta site works on the native browser, but I use Opera (a chromium fork) and it works there. As a rule, I refuse to run Meta’s software. The amount of stuff Threads tells you it steals is insane.

For about 2 years, WhatsApp doesn’t make a sound when someone calls me on it.
