I just learned about UpToDown as alternative App Store some weeks ago. As it’s a european thing (from Spain) offering a mixture of booth Google/Aurora Store and F-Droid apps as well I wonder if if makesxsense to have their app store app listed under the marketplaces category in jolla app store too.
Nevertheless some apps in UpToDown seem to have outdated version (especially HereWeGo is one of those apps), but some others also seem to be behind (like ZDF Mediathek or Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes…).
Does anybody else use UpToDown on SFOS, what are your experiences and thoughts about it - and the idea to list it as additional Android app store?
Maybe I used a bad wording… “Just learned about” means I discovered UpToDown in tge Vivaldi Browser newsletter, the store was listed there as one of three mobile stores to download the mobile versiin of Vivaldi (the others were Apple AppStore and Google Play Store). And as Aurora Store ist just a third party layer gor goigle play store from whereever (I didn’t ever search where the dev is from) I liked the idea of a real independent App Store, especially as it’s from Europe. Initially it was a project from a soanish university (Malaga if I remember right).
And as stated above I had some issues with some apps and am interested if anybody else here used that before and how their experiences are. (Searching the forum leads to a few entries that lacker further information).
I’ve never been a fan of the fact that Uptodown require access to manage ‘‘all files’’.
It feels intrusive.
As to compare with another legit appstore: Huawei’s Appgallery works with zero permissions, doesn’t even ask access to ‘media and files’, not even close to ‘all files’…
