Unable to install apps on new Jolla phone

Please help!

Totally unable to install apps from outside of Jolla store, either with pull down menu from file browser or with terminal.

App permissions and developer mode are switched on and I have used devel-su.

It’s driving me crazy as I am unable to daily phone until I can get the apps I need working.

If you don’t provide any error messages, then how are we supposed to help?
What do you run in the terminal - and what does it say?

And in addition to attahs question it could be helpful if you show, which app from which site you try to install.

Screenshot of error?
Filepermission of rpm?

Are you able to get apps from openrepos.
When downloaded from openrepos you should see downloads from jolla browser menu and install.
devel-su , needed only for special things, only, see that basic operations are ok first.

This is my problem. Download from openrepos and when I try install I just get command rpm not found

You do know there is a screenshot function and remote (ssh) access to the phone?

While the file browser is nice and all, it is third-party. There is very likely a warning about that the store version has limited capabilities.

When you are getting started, i strongly recommend using the phone as intended - i.e. find your downloads in the download manager, either from the browser or from settings.

pkcon install-local takes a file name - it looks a lot like you are not giving the complete file name (i.e. missing the .rpm ending). Never type out full filenames (or paths) - always use tab to auto-complete. And if it isn’t autocompleting, it isn’t there.

  1. You downloaded the wrong file. You need an aarch64 package for J2
  2. If using pkcon you need to give the full file name, including the .rpm part.
  3. It’s likely amazfish needs some additional dependencies. You are not going to be happy looking for them indivdually.

Therefore, install either Storeman or Chum GUI and use that, it’s going to save you lots of pain.

Tried installing chum gui. Aarch64 version. Same errors.

OK. Some progress.

Fatal error: nothing provides ‘libyaml-cpp.so.0.6()(64bit)’ needed by the to be installed sailfishos-chum-gui-0.6.12-1.13.1.bso.aarch.64

But can’t find file when I try and install it….

Try to install Storeman first. Than install chum-gui-installer from there. At least for me it worked
