I have just small question, haven’t find answer yet.
Maybe it was already answered several times.
Do you know how could I see traffic on the roads in pure maps navigation.
I haven’t find in the menu.
Thank you in advance

yes you have to add a here maps api key in settings. it also explains how to make the account and get the api key there i believe
oh and then you have to switch to here maps too
Traffic info you can get either using HERE maps or Mapbox. Both maps can be used in Online profile.
If you switch over to HERE profile, router should take traffic into account as well. Note that HERE router and search are available via HERE profile only due to their usage conditions.
Hi,
I would like to refresh this topic. In earlier HereMaps App and HereWeGo App it is possible to have Maps offline, but it was possible to get online traffic information.
This does not seems possible with pure maps, isn’t it? I typically use offline OSM maps, but would like to have traffic information for my current route. Is there a chance to realize that?
Thanks a lot,
Michael
You can have traffic while using it with HERE profile. At some point it was legally prohibited to mix most of HERE info with other providers. From that time, this info is available only if you use HERE for showing maps and searching with it. Whether I can mix it these days I don’t know. However, at this point it is not implemented.
Hi Ringus,
that’s really pity. You must know that Germany is the one and only hot spot of road constructions and traffic jam and one the other side mobile network is not everywhere good enough for online map services. Therefore I prefer offline maps, the OSM maps are really good and pure maps app work well.
BTW: HERE profile does not work very well. Map does not really switch to 3D view, rotation/scaling of street names does not work, voice output sounds like a mix of English and somewhat else (couldn’t switch to German, it overrides all configuration).
Thanks
Michael
In principle, HERE has vector map data as well. We “just” need to develop styles to display the maps. I don’t have time right now to work on it, but it is possible… If someone wants to do it, you would have to learn how to style maps using MapLibre or Mapbox and apply it to HERE data
This doesn’t sounds like a “long hanging fruit”. I’m not familiar enough with software development and can’t assist.
You might want to use Here Wego with offline maps although their information on construction works is mostly inaccurate.
No, its not. It is not super hard either, mainly requires reading user manuals for map designing tools and how styles are made. Not much programming as such is needed. But it will need time to work through it and start testing with GitHub - maplibre/maputnik: An open source visual editor for the 'MapLibre Style Specification' or similar tools. I don’t know when I get there to work on it, so help by some active users is needed if you want it to be added
Yes I know. But for somewhat reason Here WeGo does not work stable on my phone. After a while it hangs or restarts. I’m not sure why. I tried MagicEarth and there are problems with tracking the gps position, app only gets the first fix. Most things work fine and Pure Maps too, therefore I didn’t spend more time on debugging.
I had to admit, that I got the phone (Sony XA2) with preinstalled sailfish image (…tried to save time…) and it seams that the owner before started with a non SF-compliant Android version.
You should run gpsinfo in parallel
