Try it first, it probably depends on what version you are running. I was running an old pre-release, but i just updated to whatever the latest is and it worked fine.
I get error messages after
- zypper ref
about no valid metadata for the repositories - adaptation common, and
- adaptation halium.
zypper dup then reports missing dependecies and 42 errors, some of them with the risk of a broken system.
After manually disabling qt6 repositories and uninstalling angelfish and qtrunner + dependencies, zypper dup still has 7 remaining problems, including the risk for a broken system again.
I do not know how to get rid of the 7 remaining problems, in addition they look scary, involving the uninstalling of udev.
What am I doing wrong?

You maybe have an old install with the old format URLs
I got around this issue with modifying the URL into static 5.1
The strange thing is that after upgrading to 5.1, I still get errors about invalid repositories after āzypper refā in the autogenerated adoption-community.ini that disappear when I change back to static 5.1 in that file.
Probably not the eloquent solution, needs adoption sooner or later, but was a quick and ugly fix.
Edit: and Waydroid works
MANY THANKS again for this quality port.
The WPA2+3 connection to my router is lost in 5.1, I needed to set my router WLAN to WPA2 only for SFOS to reconnect, the WPA2+3 setting worked in 5.0 flawlessly.
Anyone else having similar issues?
Hy,
can i switch from volla os android 16
to latest sailfishā¦..or first downgrade
android?
I cannot tell. Maybe @piggz does know? Might waydroid be affected by the underlying Android version (in case you are interested in Waydroid)?
Thanks Mr.
i can buy a quintus 380⬠from 03.2026
one day in useā¦ā¦like new.
Quintus good device?
What do you thinkā¦should i buy Quintus
or new Jolla Sailfish Phone?
Before you decideā¦
Is the commercial parts of Sailfish OS important to you? Do you need Microsoft Exchange support for email and calendar? Do you need App Support to be able to run Android apps?
Iām sure that the Volla device is a great piece of hardware, but some software is only available for the Jolla phones (and selected Sony phones).
I ended up selling my Fairphone 5, and ordered a Jolla J2 (and have a C2 for now).
Quintus is a good device, but there seem to variations out there with different camera modules:
see this post and following:
As much as I enjoy my Quintus, the safer route is the Jolla J2 phone. I would follow frankps suggestion, unless you are sure your Quintus has the correct hardware for SFOS (how to find out?).
I have the old device with working camera but I bought already in Jan 25.
Be careful and best of luck!
I loose network connection after flight mode (always) or when leaving the hone WKAN (sometimes).
I created a bug report for the always loosing network when flight mode was selected before here: Network reconnection after flight mode not possible.
I will observe further the sometimes loosing network issue after leaving the home WLAN and try find out why this happens infrequently and what can be a trigger for it. Thus sometimes and infrequently issue is not described in the linked bug report.
However, both might be related since they came after upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1.
Maybe it is device specific? Since nobody else seems to have this or a similar issueā¦
I have that fixed in devel, i will push to 5.1 soon.
This is really good news, I will adopt my bug report as solved. Thanks again ![]()
WLAN is working again, tgank for the quality work ![]()

Ah yes, i forgot to mention i pushed the fix!
Although I have the Jolla Phone 2, I come back frequently to the Quintus because of the superior screen experience. One thing I noted is that with 5.1.0.11 that the power consumption in idle is much better than before. With WLAN on overnight idle is now below 1%/h. Before it was always in the range 4-6%/h when WLAN was . Anyone else still using Quintus and experiencing the same?
This device still rocks and I am looking forward to a stable 5.2 on this device.
Hi just saw a video on YouTube about your awesome work to made SFOS working on volla phones .do you think there will be an official support from jolla in future ? (Like for Sony device ).
Are there any plans to bring 5.2.0.18 to algiz?
Although I have the Jolla Phone as well, I reinserted my SIM into the Quintus, the hardware and especially the screen is much better on the Quintus, so this continues to be my daily driver.
I would love to see 5.2.0.18 coming to this great deviceā¦
Your port still beats the Jolla Phone in my eyes ![]()

I want to increase the root partition.
Therefore, I want to boot into recovery. My device is running 5.1.0.11.
I guess I need hybris-recovery for fastboot and telnet. Since on the github / releases page the flash omages ho only up to 5.0.0.68: where do I find the correct fastboot flash images for my 5.1.0.11 installation?
@piggz: can you please advise?
Edit: I just realised that the install packages for this community port do do not contain the recovery image for telnet root shell.
I was tricked by my memory, I was convinced that I already increased the root partition size on this device, but I must be mislead and thatsailfish was probably a Xperia device in the past.
Can we adopt and increase e root partition by shrinking the home partition?
Yes, when 5.2 is available on OBS (which it might be now actually). Just need a little time.
