The default SailFish OS browser url charcaters conversion fails

DESCRIPTION:

Github authentication fails with the default browser because the link passed to the broser contains some characters, like spaces that are not converted in url-mode (%20 for example).

PRECONDITIONS:

Install Github official mobile app and trying to authenticate

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Install Github app
  2. Try to authenticate

EXPECTED RESULT:

The default SailFish OS browser would be open with the github authentication page

ACTUAL RESULT:

The default SailFish OS browser compains that the url is not valid

MODIFICATIONS:

The quick solution is to install another browser and set it as the default one.

Are you sure this is a sfos bug and not android app forgetting to uriencode the url?

Yes because Installing DuckDuckGo browser solved the problem for me.

Ddg browser and all other android ones can just do X to behave like chrome, but if you’re passing URL with characters forbidden by spec, I’m really not sure jolla should waste time for IE like tweaks
