It all went totally nuts after the High German consonant shift. Then we lost the Ablautreihen of the irregular verbs. This is so messed up. Do we need a german locale at all?
We don’t have latin, don’t we?

Actually, that would be a very fun community project! 
But I’d propose DE_te (old spelling of German is Teutsch).
Linguistic nerdery:
This is actually the reason why the language of the Netherlands is called Dutch (very close to Teutsch or Deutz) in English. Lower German (=> nieder, neder) and Dutch used to be practically the same language 
The time for the rebellion of the ‘Mundart’ has come!
