Some whole threads are "temporarily" closed for at least "X" days due to a "large" number of snowflake flaggings

Of course, one can get upset about censorship, which supposedly favors the mainstream and suppresses dissenting opinions. But the whole thread and your collected elaborations up to here are online and visible and commentable, although you obviously claim to be almost death-defyingly off the mainstream. Apparently the system is not as strict as you claim.

This is of course a difficult contradiction to bear.

Obviously? Please elaborate, I only described what is being strongly favored by the system.

While no one ever wonders that relying on such documents that have been written in a very convincing manner is nothing else but conforming to the mainstream, ignoring the crystal clear fact that there are out there a lot of people paid to write what some governative agencies would like us to accept as the norm.

If you wonder if I did something like that: yes, I did it a few times, not for money but for sake of the truth, and it was disruptive every time because it brought people to think in a critical manner and not blindly follow the manual (yesterday, the holy book, whatever it was).

I think s/he was sarcastic in asking to flag that post… I suppose… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

D-did you really assume my possible genders?

With “call to authority” I meant the “argument from authority”:

The users with the highest post counts therefore are the “wisest”, and, systematically, the most mainstream people one can imagine, as an evil person you want them to be the authorities that lead the pack. Reading the old thread now, thanks for the headsup.

In reality, considering the social dynamics involved, we - as craft-makers of the collective mind - reach the conclusion that physically burning a person is less effective and less efficient than blaming them as “bad person” whatever that means. It works smoothly by leveraging social norms - which have been manipulated in advance - and the chain of trust.

For example, a government agency decides - rightly or wrongly - that an individual is a danger to the nation (or whatever), and then a corrupted person with a uniform starts to contact the friends and family of that person, revealing that in fact s/he is a very dangerous criminal even if it is a total lie.

Moreover, usually corruption is not even necessary but simply creating the circumstances because the agent really thinks that it is a good way to act or a good way to have a promotion. On the other side, the same individual, once s/he discovered the trick, could convince the whole department that raiding the criminals and stealing their money is the best way to stop them and prevent that the judge will be corrupted in such a way that justice will triumph.

As you can imagine, there is a ferocious weakness in this way of doing things: without a fair public trial, anyone can be considered a criminal from whom to steal. In fact, it is the best way to corrupt an entire department or an entire nation in the long run. Therefore, create a jungle where the stronger always win.

If you think that this is not possible, you might think twice. The lack of critical thinking among people is a low-cost and abundant commodity, and like every low-cost and abundant commodity, it is ignored but is in fact a HUGE vulnerability. Technically speaking, it is not even a vulnerability, it is a kind of weapons by itself.

Follow me to learn how to defeat a nation by its own rules… :innocent:

No, you are crystal clear a d*ck… no doubts about that. Sleep fine.

For @all, inserting in a group an element that produces nothing but sustains the same basic idea of the one - that can be considered initially, an antagonist of the group but on the long term have the potential to become their leader - it is a well-known tactic of deception, which in popular terms is known as “d*cks always came in a couple” and leverages the psychological effect named shadowing the flame.

A flame has no shadow, and vice versa; if it has no shadow, then it is a flame. Under this principle, adding a d*ck that mimics the same ideas but produces nothing that shadows the flame, the flame has a shadow, therefore it is not a real flame. More or less, it is this way.

Follow me to learn many more tactics of deception your enemies before meeting them into a open battlefield… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

So spending time for humanitarian aid wont earn some respect? Developing a software for freedom and free speech wont ear some respect?
My point is - this community forum is a lot about very engaged people doing crazy efforts. And I want to kindly ask you again for some more respect to this people.

Depends on how you define “humanitarian aid”.

We are talking about free speech right now, aren’t we?

Good point.

This implies I have been unrespectful, please show me where this has been the case. It clearly has to be the case if you have to ask a second time.

For sure, this depends. I think, discussing what kind of “aid” would be good or not is not the point. There is some good aid, some evil aid and a lot between with cons and pros. But I think, that should be the topic of some other forum.

maybe I’m a little thin skinned but for me the following quote is not polite:

Mate it is the bitter truth and is not meant as an affront towards the people developing the system, professionally or not. I bet they themselves are not happy with the path meego went down to what we have now.

Yeah, I totally see your point. I agree with you, that a lot of stuff could be better and the alternative OSes for mobiles aren’t that feature rich as there were in the past and as they could/should be.
But I’m very glad you said it like that polite now. That means a lot to me.

The simple man that I am there are not many features I need. Important are:

  • Phonecalls / SMS
  • Mail
  • OSM
  • Browser
  • Runtime

Never cared for anything else and up to my Compact X Sailfish delivered the best performance on the market. Now its Android. Runtime of my 10 III is a running (or not) joke and the browser crashes frequently. JAVA now is better than Sailfish. Think about it, the JAVA mess, a computer inside a computer, is besser than a native linux system. How can you screw this up, seriously. Give me a feature phone, or better, a watch that fulfills my requirements and I am outta here.

My little bit.
But first - I worked on a forum, as a moderator for almost 8 years, before it was closed down due to the record company shifting things over to social media.
From what I’ve seen here the majority of the threads were closed because posters were incessantly drifting off topic, risking the thread losing it’s true purpose.
This is like someone asking for help to fix an issue with their phone and someone jumping in with a partial answer and suddenly switching over to describing how to change a wheel on a Mustang. Then when they get the post edited and asked to stay on topic they go into all out anti-censorship mode and start bagratting people off.
I’ve had posts hijacked on forums and even on social media where, rather than creating a new thread/topic someone jumps in with something totall irrelevant and it’s infuriated me.
Best to stay on topic and then you don’t get threads like this.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me with my issues over the past few weeks. (And kept on topic :grinning:)

It’s not the truth, it’s your personal opinion and as a 10 iii owner I do not share the same opinion.
First of all, Jolla never promised the moon, it’s beta software and they make it pretty clear during the process of buying the license. Where did they say that they offer the “best” system (whatever it means for you)?
Secondly, I don’t have issues with battery drain or performance in general on my 10 iii with SFOS, I use it as daily driver.

Wonderful thoughts, unique and never before presented in this clear form.

Unfortunately, they have nothing to do with what is happening here: no one is contacting your relatives/friends to tell them you are “bad” (If I am wrong here, please correct me.). You do that yourself very coquettishly in various places in this and countless other threads to the whole public gathered here. So what is really happening here: You simply harvest contradiction, because other people are of a different opinion. This is of course terrible and offending, but has nothing to do with the situation presented by you.

What is really exhausting is this victim pose into which you (two) hallucinate yourselves. “We knights of truth and right are canceled by the mainstream”, although quite obviously this does not happen. Your posts are visible to everyone (sometimes after one click), but neither (as far as I know) one of your longish elaborations has been deleted, nor has a moderator (the corrupted person in uniform) contacted other participants (for example me) and pointed out your badness. At least I suspect the latter, but admittedly my empirical base there only extends to a population of N=2 (me and one other forum participant who has not commented on any of these posts yet nor flagged (according to her statement to me).

The argument, presented in the most beautiful and clear language, thought through, thus runs completely into the void and is completely useless at this point. Too bad, they were as I said wonderful, stringent and above all really novel thoughts.

I’m always annoyed afterwards that I jump over such sticks, so I’ll (hopefully) refrain from commenting on any of these completely off-topic posts in the future. May my strength be enough to hold me back!

I did stop to read here because you completely missed the point.

Again, you are focused on your own bellybutton without any clue of what is happening in the real world. This way of perceiving things in a small framework brings you to be a self-reference community. Hence, I am not surprised at all that nobody contacted you.

In fact, the SFOS system never had a serious external review of the community code and scripts as well. Even those who claim, at least in my private message box, to be seasoned professionals seem to have any clue about how to conduct a review or a refactoring. Finally, as typical of a self-referencing community, you all reacted to negative feedback like children and in the best case citing the manual of the discussion forum.

Back to the main point, it was a way to explain that outside the mainstream (or the matrix), the world is an extremely interconnected and complex place - full of dangers and opportunities, both - at the point that almost all the people prefer the mainstream, even if they sometimes complain about it or pathetically try to swim against the stream.

Unfortunately, this community, in its aim to move outside of the mainstream - for 10 years - has been driven to be an insignificant niche, like an untouched tribe in the forest. I am a western explorer, and you are no longer an untouched tribe in the forest. It has been written, yet.

Please, do not waste my time with these futile cries. If you can provide support - good - if not or are not willing to - good as well, someone else will do - go to any club of your city to f"ck-up yourselves around, a better time spent as far as you can afford it.
