I installed 5.0.0.78 on a Xperia 10II. After installation sending of text messages stopped working. Both for mobile SMS text messages and XMPP messages. In both cases reception works ok. Also the connection to the XMPP server is working: status of other persons is visible, other persons can see my status, i can receive XMPP messages. Phone reports “problem sending message” immediately when pressing send on SMS text messages and XMPP messages. XMPP server shows login in its log but no attempt to send anything.

Sounds like the famous bug almost everyone experience. Does it work after you open terminal and type:
systemctl --user restart mission-control-5
???

restart didn’t fix it, but that above spell did. Thanks.
Thank you for the answer and sorry for my late reply. I have been in CH and because of the issues i experience with SIM cards working or not working in CH i was experimenting with another SIM card. After that the problem was gone, so i cannot test. I noted your suggestion and will try in case the problem reappears.
