Sailfish apps on Android possible?, reverse AppSupport

I stopped using SailfishOS a while ago but miss some of its apps on my new GrapheneOS device.

Does anyone know of a kind of “Alien Mer” for Android?

It would be nice if we could keep the discussion on a technical level. What would be needed, maybe already exists etc.

There are so many apps that do the things SFOS apps do on android that its pointless.

The app support is there because we don’t have many apps on SFOS.

maybe you just have to wait a bit:

Of course you still would need silica, but that should be doable?

Once I tried to code my apps in Android also. There is Qt for Android which should do the trick. Setting the software developement kit for that was so painful that I decided to enjoy only sfos coding.

lol, i like to imagine all the millions of people out there using SailfishOS because of the silica UI, dreaming about moving their many hard required Qt apps to Groogol Blandroid.
you hear them say “if only i could run PureMaps and Unplayer on blandroid, i’d switch in a heartbeat”

its funny, if i had to name even one other SFOS app i use, i’d be in trouble. ‘apps’ are usually things that other people force me to use.

I would rather say “apps make it easier to use things other people force one to use”, in some cases “apps” are the only way because providers just pack their http/js into chrome->apk and not a website anymore.

And that chain goes on to the OS and the baseband.

PureMaps is indeed a candidate i would like to see on Blandroid.

Regardless of Silica, there are plenty of SFOS apps that have Android versions.

Writing an SFOS emulator/layer/whatever for Android otoh? I cannot think of anything good to say even about the idea.
