Is weather support planned?
It works for me, I just needed to set location in the the settings
In rockpool settings? I dont see any location option there.
Weather app settings
I already have a location there. Adding new one has no impact either. Watch shows no locataons.
You might also need to select it on the watch itself. Also in the weather app
That’s what doesn’t work though. the weather app has 2 locations, but the watch always just says “no locations set”.
Idk then. I had the same issue, and doing those things helped
Is there a way to get an armv7-rpm of the actual version again, please?
Would be cool!
Thanks in advance,
BGK
I don’t think it’s possible sorry. As far as I can see it’s not a supported target for libpebble3. Not easily anyway.
That`s a pity - and seems to be the end of the road for my pebble (time steel) and SFOS.
But thank you very much for your efforts and your quick reply!
If you have an older Pebble you can use the 1.x Rockpool version?
I used 1.16-1.1.1 until my PTS now needs initialisation, but clicking the button “initialize Pebble” in that has no effect (i.e. seems to do nothing). So I hoped, the actual version of Rockpool would do the trick…
Was having a look around in the Java stuff today already, so adding some context: libpebble3 is Kotlin, and the current shipment of Rockpool runs on GraalVM, which is 64-bit only. You could probably run the whole stack on JRE, but then you’re looking at a Java JRE that’ll be idling 300MB of RAM, which is going to eat a large part in any of the 32-bit devices. So even if you get it to run, it might not be worth it.
IIRC, there’s a workaround for it. Something vaguely documented on the issue tracker at Unable to initialize Pebble Time Steel · Issue #80 · abranson/rockpool · GitHub or login goes to old server · Issue #82 · abranson/rockpool · GitHub, iirc it’s about setting the firmware URLs correctly and then stuff works again.
I built a new version of the old Rockpool on the community OBS with the firmware downloading fixed. Managed to init an old og pebble with it. I hope people don’t install it over the new one by mistake.
Thank you very much! Seems you saved a pebble`s life! ![]()
One thing I experienced: I was able to install the downloaded rockpool-1.18.1-1.41.1.bso.armv7hl.rpm (from here) on one of my XA2s (running Pispalla), but not on the other one (running Tampella), where I get the message “installation failed” (without further information [about missing dependecies or the like]). Any ideas?
You have to add the repository. There are dependencies for that which need to be installed at the same time. It’s always been that way with the old Rockpool.
Ah, the reason might be I added the repo an the Pispalla-device in the past but didn`t remember that. Could you please give me a hint how to do that on the Tampella-device, too?
Meanwhile I checked the enabled repos on the Tampella-device with “ssu lr”, which tells me rockpool repo is already enabled:
Enabled repositories (user):
- rockpool … Index of /obs/home:/abranson:/sailfishapps/armv7hl
-…
But installing todays rockpool-1.18.1-1.41.1.bso.armv7hl.rpm still fails, whereas the installation of an older rockpool-1.16-1.1.1.jolla _armv7hl.rpm (downloaded from openrepos in the past) was possible without problems (but SMS notifications show up empty on the PTS). Any further hints on this?
Is it a missing feature, that the new Pebble watches don’t get the actual location?
(edit: typo)
