Payed but not received a download link for Sailfish OS

I have payed for Sailfish OS donation, but not received a download link for Sailfish OS. That was more then month ago.

Can anybody help me?

Donation and purchase are two different things.

If you own a supported device (a Sony Xperia 10 series), you can download SFOS for free to try it out (limitation is it won’t have Android compatibility). If you’re happy with the OS, you can purchase a licence and it will enable Android application support and text suggestions.

One confusing thing is there are two websites, shop.jolla.com (the old one) and commerce.jolla.com (the more recent one where their new phone is sold).

This is where you get a licence for an Xperia 10 device:

Don’t use the donation option, it won’t at all be connected with a licence. The voluntary subscription is a way for very happy supporters to just give money to Jolla for no reason.

If you are talking about the voluntary subscription. You don’t get anything for that. As the name already says, it is voluntary and directly supports Sailfish OS independence.

The license for Sony Xperia devices found on the old Jolla shop costs way more than $5. Currently listed as 24,90€ for me.

The Sony Xperia license is a one-time payment, not a subscription.

You don’t need to purchase the licence now.

  • Go to shop.jolla.com, login as mishkinZG
  • you can download the images from https://shop.jolla.com/downloads (thanks @emva)
  • you can also “purchase” the free trial ($0, no payment card needed), which beyond the download link displays very clear instructions on how to flash the image onto your phone.
  • Flash it onto your device, following the instructions
  • Restart and test your device, see if you like it.
  • It will be fully functional except for two things: no Android app support, no text suggestions when writing messages.

To install applications, you can:

  1. log into the Settings app as “mishkinZG”. This will enable the Jolla Store, where you can download some basic apps. The apps work well but are pretty limiting.
  2. figure out how to install Repoman and Chum, two community-driven repositories (ask on the forum how to do install them) with many more apps, some useful, other broken. They are community-driven, open source, you can check the code yourself if you want to make sure it’s not malware (they’re surely not, but here you can actually check yourself), and you can contribute new apps.

If you like it and want to have the two missing functionalities,

  • go again to shop.jolla.com
  • purchase a licence for 24.90€ one-time payment
  • You get again the link to download the images, but you don’t need to download nor reflash anything
  • once you are logged in the phone with mishkinZG, your phone becomes associated with the purchase (through IMEI).
  • You are then able to download/use Android AppSupport from the Jolla Store
  • With AppSupport, you should install repositories F-droid and AuroraStore; you can also install Micro-g to increase application compatibility.

If you purchase the licence immediately now: it works the same, when you put your credentials at first launch, it asks you if you want AppSupport. You can, but you don’t have to pay money now. I used a Sony Xperia XA2 for 3 years on the free trial until I decided to purchase the licence for Android AppSupport.

I bought it, and download it. So, I started flashing, but it stopped in the last step, and the message is: “requested download size is more than max allowed - when sending ‘oem a’ of Xperia Android_11_4.19_v9a_lena.img.

Please, can you help?

There is only Sailfish OS message on the screen when I turned on, and that message is always on, notng happening. So flashing process did not go well…

You should add -s 256 or even 512. Search forum for exact information.
