Though the Onedrive Backup is still not working for me. The manual backp process works fine, but the upload to OneDrive does not. I have removed and recredted the OD account and rebooted.

Some additional details. When I went into System > Accounts, then added my OneDrive, I could authenticate in the browser, add my MFA code, then return to the accounts and I just saw “Adding account” and the progress circle spinning forever. I eventually came back and saw the OD account there and fully illuminated (not shadowed) and then tried a backup. That failed. It always said “preparing” then ultimately failed.
I deleted the account and then went to System > Backup. It immediately asked if I wanted to add an account. I add the OD account and it worked immediately. I then initiated a manual backup and that backed up fine. I can see it in my OD under Apps > Sailfish OS > Backups > Xperia-10-V_xxxxxxxx > sailfish_backup_2026-03-11….tar
I deleted the OD account, tried adding again from Settings > Accounts and it failed again.
I deleted the attempted OD account, then went into Settings > Backup and adding it again, it worked, I manually performed a second backup and it worked, and in Backup app at the bottom, it lists “You can restore your device from these previous backups” and lists my most recent backup, as is expected.
When I go into gallery, I see OD listed below Android storage, however, it’s shadowed out and the progress circle spins continuously. I did allow the permissions when setting up the OD account from within the Backup application.
Thanks for all of this.
Unfortunately it’s still not uploading, and producing the same error as shown in my post above.
I renamed my backup directory in OD and did another manual backup and the directory is created, so the phone is authenticating to OD and creating the required directory- Xperia-10-III_xxxxxxxxxxxx
But I am getting this too:
sailfish-accounts-tool[18047]: [W] unknown:0 - void CredentialKeysQuery::signOnError(const SignOn::Error&) signon error while retrieving secrets for credentials 12 : “Identity does not allow authentication using the selected method or mechanism. Method:oauth2, mechanism:user_agent, allowed:user_agent”
Logs you say?
This is for the gallery OneDrive image. I can see all the relevant thumbnails, they update in real time, including removing files via OD but opening an image in gallery produces this:
Now, could try to enable you some more logging for the more precise details, or then you could maybe check your onedrive content. E.g. if just removing/moving the existing content could avoid the conflict.
Thinking out loud here…
Do you have 2FA enabled for OD? Perhaps that could be reason as Sailfish can’t do 2FA during gallery lookup and hence produces:
Got text instead: “{"error":{"code":"unauthenticated","message":"Unauthenticated"}}”
and consquently
Downloaded file is not an image, mime type is “text/plain”
I don’t have 2FA enabled. I also noticed that the number of images doesn’t match. I have over 6000 images of which Sailfish only reports about 500. It also doesn’t load all the thumbnails and I can’t open the ones where the icons are visible. Maybe it’s because I can’t log into my email account with Microsoft Exchange either, because my Microsoft email address ends in msn.com.
