No keyboard in some Android apps

Just received my #47xx phone today, even though the tracker says it’s still en-route.

The phone takes some getting used to.

Unfortunately the first bug is immediately a show-stopper: inside an Android app, when you click an inputfield, no keyboard pops up. It renders the app unusable. Seems like a pretty basic thing that should work out of the box.

Can you give more details? Which app are you having issues with?

It’s the first app I tried: Brawl Stars. Don’t wanna hijack this thread which is about deliveries, so I made a separate bug report for it: Jolla [2026] No onscreen keyboard appears in Android app (Brawl Stars) - I’ll update the bug report if I run into the same issue with any other Android apps.

I’m pretty sure it works with 99% of all other apps, or we would have heard about it within a month after release.
But, of course, that’s not very helpful if you really need this specific app.

In my practice, some applications, like Supercell’s games, do not easily let you input text. Or it’s impossible, even. But I have noticed this peculiarity even on my previous Android devices with custom ROM and GMS.

However, I found in this instance, that you can populate required email into the clipboard, then opening the problematic AAS app in question, and holding your finger so that Paste appears. And then you should be able to paste it and the text box should populate.

One proper bug report.

Dowload android keyboard like Microsoft Swype

Tried that; didn’t work (read the bug report).

You’re hearing it now, within a month after release.

Physical keyboard works. But, we need to wait an update since some keys aren’t working on android apps. This will be repaired on next update.

It’s not fixed in 5.2.0.17

Apparently is was left out on this update. I am new with Sailfish, should ctrl+v work for paste? Wondering if through clipboard it is possible to bring needed data

Yes, see the bug report. It’s a workaround, not a fix.
