Native music player with play next feature

I’ve never really started a topic in any forum before, so if I’ve done something wrong here please feel free to move this wherever I should have posted it.

I’m having trouble finding a native music player (for local music files) that has a queue system similar to Spotify, where playlists and the queue are separated. For anyone unfamiliar, I want to be able to do the following: I start listening to a playlist and, a couple of songs in, I decide I really want to play a specific song that isn’t part of the playlist. I search for that song and add it to the “queue.” This would then play that song as the very next track, and after that song is done, the playlist would continue as normal.

At this moment every music player I’ve found with an “add to queue” feature adds that song to the bottom of whatever playlist happens to be playing. Naturally the song might show up an hour later depending on how long the playlist is. Since I want to listen to the song immediately, I would have to play it manually, but that would reset the playlist I am listening to.

Any help is appreciated!

Well my musikilo has queue exclusively but no playlists

I think you can make quasarmx do what you want

Semi-copying my reply from another topic: Unplayer has both ‘Add to queue’ and ‘Add to playlist’, and even ‘replace queue’. It’s the best native music player in my opinion, uncomplicated UI but it has all the options you need.

Edit: nevermind! I thought it added it next in the queue, but it also only adds it to the end of the queue.

That’s what the “Play track” option in AQS is for.

It enqueues the selected track after the current track in the playlist and starts playing.

Thank you, I actually tried AQS but missed this!
I noticed it drained massive amounts of battery and when I checked the store it stated:

WARNING
A dangerous mix of very old code infused with new AI hallucinations. I have no idea how to run the player daemon in a Sailjail, so it has access to more than it actually needs. Use at your own risk.

Needless to say I was frightened by the warning and power-drain on my battery so I just went to the next option as I had not found this “Play track” feature. If nothing else does the work I might reconsider it :upside_down_face:

Thank you for this info, sad that the project has died out. Last update for Sailfish aarch64 devices was over 4 years ago :smiling_face_with_tear:
What does it cost..? I assume you managed to buy a key when you contacted the developer?

As you should be
But depending on when you tested it, later versions may have subsequently improved the power management.

You could try disabling the web interface and API etc. or using a player visual without all the fluff (lyrics player, car player).
Also disabling GPS based volume control may help.

I also purchased it a few years ago but it looks like it is freeware now, and can be downloaded from the website: https://www.meteorasoftworks.com/

What I forgot to mention: adding new music can indeed consume way more power because of all the scanning, normalising, etc.

Once that’s all done, it should normally be much more efficient.

Sweet I managed to install QuasarMX, thanks a lot guys!
Still figuring out how exactly this app works as there seems to be quite a lot going on but I imagine I will learn the ropes soon enough!

And QuasarMX Pro is freeware now. You can download it on meteorasoftworks.com available for all platforms. Thx Andre Beckedorf - love this since Nokia times and had proudly payed for it back then. Was definitly worth paying for. So sad that it wasn’t paying off for the developer. Strong move to make the pro version available for all!

good review under “Energy from the Community”: Sailfish Community News, 9th September, Verla, Testing

Ooooh thats cool!
Any chance the Jolla store available version would get updated to ‘pro’?

You can download from their website and install it

Yes true.
But if would be quite smooth to have it directly in the Jolla store.
