Little things I enjoy using SFOS / Jolla Phone

I also noticed that - it looks pretty epic! )

Is there a similar effect with the Inari OH? Or would it need a cutout surrounding the logo?

Missed opportunity from Jolla..
This case should have been marketed as Saint Jollaphonious TOH

Looks epic!

Hm, another idea for a Toh? have a set of LEDs along the side/edge of the backcover, and light them up according to… well whatever state.

After all we did have something a bit like this for the Gemini PDA.

Some kind of ambilight? For a phone? Why not?

I’m baffled how FAAAAAAST the Jolla Phone gets GPS fix.
I mean… really? I was used to wait mindfully that my X10III got fix and it was totally ok.
But Jolla Phone 2026! I dont get to say “GPS” before the phone already has a fix!!! What!!!???!!!
And I get fix in places I didn’t know it’s possible, inside my house! Inside car with no problems or skips!

And GPS is in heavy use also for me.
I collect location reports for Beacon DB with Stumblefish -app.

Here comes the next I love in Jolla Phone. I can collect GPS records all day long and I still have a lot of battery left.

And I LOVE :heart_with_arrow: that the “BT” and “Wifi” switches DO switch them off. And “off” means really off here.

Dear lord it drives me nuts on iPhone (that I reluctantly have to use as work phone) that does not switch them off really.
(you need to go deep into settings to really turn them off)
(and I have to say that I dont trust them to be really really off, not even then).

Nice, only a tiny bit overlapping with yours. I will go out again tomorrow with the grandchildren. Collecting with stumblefish is such a treat with them.

Tack! Vad roligt! Thank you! This is fun actually!
Should we create a separate thread for the fun of it where people can post their exploration maps?

Lite roligt att “färga sina egna tiles” i närområdet, ja förtjänar egen tråd
Lade det här som förslag till nästa “community newsletter”, men en tråd däremellan skulle vara roligt

En: paint your own tiles, a spearate thread would be fun
Made a suggestion for the next newsletter as below:

Ja, nu finns det en egen tråd:
EN: Yes, now there is a thread for this:

I love the aspect ratio of the JP2601 and the more boxy shape that is in contrast to the inflationary rounded corners used today everywhere.
And I love the way the white TOH feels (no glass back, I can’t stand the glass sandwiches anymore) and the clear Jolla logo on the back in white TOH. And Inari blue TOH with shining logo is cool…
Congratulations Jolla, well done. If it only would have HBM…

Today:

6h hours of meetings using my Jolla Phone as WLAN point for my laptop.

Couple that with few phone calls and usage of Signal/Whisperfish.

NOT ONE hick-up! Not even when simultaneously talking on phone. Flawless internet sharing via WLAN. Everything JUST working

And you know what, after that I had 60% battery left :flexed_biceps:

Specifically you can crank it up a notch by saying anything like the above plus “and I also had it inside a multi purpose flour bag just cause I can”

I happen to use mz phone around borders a lot and throughout the Balticum my 10 III had to reboot after every border crossing. I was used to that but with the new Jolla 2026 going over the Polish and Czechian border with uninterrupted connectivity is a pleasure. Looking forward to my next journey to Finland and Estonia in December.

This only applies to Finland I guess…
But I do LOVE the “Mobiilivarmenne” Identification service :heart_with_arrow:

No apps. No Android. No BS. Just plain native/SIM-card service that just WORKS. Very fast - straight forward. Absolute joy to use.

(Sorry, this was half off-topic …but it’s still Sailfish and the phone that handles the whole procedure so well )

I haven’t had to reboot at all this summer (Finland-Estonia-Latvia and back), with my 10 III.

It’s operator-specific or tied to your mobile operator, so I guess that makes sense.

I use bank ID and never had a problem either. No apps, no Android, no BS.

I just noticed the calendar displays when the dailight saving time happens. Quite neat if you’re no longer opening your TV for that :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This is actually a feature that I haven’t seen on Android at all, nor on Windows if I recall correctly (haven’t used it since W7 lost support though). There’s probably a way to enable it somehow, but I never thought of doing that - I just dealt with the fact that it happened whenever it happened (alarms would follow the changed hour) and called it a day.

I think it’s still good if you plan stuff ahead so good job for having this.
