Kernel Source GPL Query

Hi folks,
Is it possible to get access to source yet, or will this be published down the line after everyone gets their phones?

Appreciate it

Morning folks, friendly bump

I’m not sure that community forum is the most effective place for such request.
I would try on Jolla’s github.

When your phone is arrived you can check the Settings app under product information (or what it is named in english). Before this please check the different web sites.

A part of the source code is printed on the phone box ..

Yes, in settings it is written that the formal way to request open source parts of Sailfish OS (such as the JP2601’s kernel), is to send a written inquiry to this address, up to three years after publication:

Jolla Mobile Ltd.
ATTN: Source Code Requests
Polttimonkatu 3

I think this is the right repo: GitHub - sailfishos/kernel-adaptation-pc · GitHub

The mailing address shared is required by the GPL v2 (the license the the Linux kernel is under), but they likely won’t send you the source via that address. And if they did, they’d be within the legal obligations to send you their kernel printed out on paper.

If you’re interested in compiling the kernel for your own device, I imagine you would start at the URL above, but I would also look for specific instructions on how to build for the specific device you have. That type of document might be in “Platform Development” in this forum.
